The mission of the New York City Police Department is to enhance the quality of life in New York City by working in partnership with the community to enforce the law, preserve peace, protect the people, reduce fear, and maintain order. The Office of Equal Employment Opportunity (OEEO) seeks a detail-oriented and qualified candidate for the role of Proofreader. The duties and responsibilities will include, but are not limited to, the following:

Review and proofread printed and electronic communications to identify and correct errors in spelling, grammar, punctuation, tone, formatting, and presentation
Ensure all content complies with formatting requirements and organizational standards
Annotate, track, and document edits using tools such as Adobe Acrobat and Microsoft Word
Collaborate with team members to support document review processes through internal systems and platforms

Minimum Qualifications

Graduation from an accredited United States law school as defined in the Rules of the New York Court of Appeals (Sections 520.3 or 520.5) or admission to the New York State Bar.

Preferred Skills

- Excellent writing and proofreading skills, with a strong command of English grammar, punctuation and spelling - Editing and presentation skills with meticulous attention to detail - Functional working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Adobe
