Job Title: Patient Registrar
Location: NewYork-Presbyterian – Brooklyn Medical Group, Brooklyn, NY 11215
Schedule: 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM
Contract Duration: 13 Weeks

Job Overview

The Patient Registrar is responsible for supporting front-end operations by providing exceptional customer service, managing patient registration, appointment scheduling, insurance verification, and maintaining accurate patient records. This position plays a key role in ensuring a seamless patient experience while supporting daily clinical operations.

Required Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED required.
Minimum 1 year of experience in patient registration, medical office administration, or healthcare customer service.
Experience with patient scheduling and registration processes.
Knowledge of electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) systems.
Familiarity with insurance verification and patient demographic updates.
Strong computer and data entry skills.
Knowledge of medical terminology preferred.
Excellent communication and customer service skills.
Strong organizational, multitasking, and time management abilities.
Ability to maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA regulations.

Key Responsibilities

Greet and assist patients in a professional and courteous manner.
Register new patients and update existing patient demographic and insurance information.
Schedule, reschedule, and confirm patient appointments.
Verify insurance eligibility and obtain required authorizations when applicable.
Maintain accurate patient records within the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
Answer incoming phone calls and respond to patient inquiries promptly.
Coordinate with physicians, clinical staff, and other departments to ensure efficient patient flow.
Collect required patient documentation and obtain necessary signatures.
Process referrals and assist with appointment coordination as needed.
Maintain confidentiality of patient information in accordance with HIPAA guidelines.
Provide administrative support for daily front desk and patient access operations.
Resolve patient concerns professionally and escalate issues when appropriate.
Perform additional clerical and administrative duties as assigned.

Preferred Skills

Experience in a hospital, outpatient clinic, or physician practice.
Proficiency with EMR/EHR systems such as Epic.
Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
