Ronpak has an excellent opportunity for a Sales Support Manager, working remotely, but must be available to travel, particularly to NJ for training. The ideal candidate will agree to permanently relocate to Dallas, Texas within 1 year of employment.
The Sale Support Manager provides a range of support to directly to the sales team and provides information and recommendations to the COO on critical projects, customer opportunities and operational capacity. The position’s most immediate engagement with the company is in reviewing new customer business opportunities and recommending pricing level to the COO or CEO for ultimate approval.
The Sales Support Manager is a senior position within the company and frequently will interact with, beyond Sales and the COO, other key company leaders, including Plant GM’s, the CFO, and others.
Essential Job Functions:
1) Manage the flow of new customer opportunities that require pricing proposals or evaluation of existing pricing. This broad responsibility includes the following elements:
- Review of Sales RFP’s forms as they are submitted, check they are clear and complete.
- Oversight of the estimating process, performed by the company estimator. This often includes coordination with sales to clarify and update their RFP’s to allow for accurate estimates
- Receipt of completed RFP’s from the estimator. Review of estimates to check accuracy. Review of items and notation of comparable item pricing, or market intelligence on pricing insight.
- Preparation of a “Management Summary” for each opportunity that concisely communicates all the information necessary for Senior Management pricing approval.
- Receipt of pricing approval from COO.
- Communication memo to sales on approved pricing.
- Maintenance of complete file of all Opportunity Reviews.
2) Calculation of “Cost Breakdown” information as requested by customers.
- Break-out of cost elements from approved pricing models to communicate cost structure elements to the customer. This often involves judgement in how we wish to convey this info to the customer.
- Review of Cost Breakdown analysis with CFO – requiring his approval.
3) “Owner” of the estimating / pricing review file.
- Back-up prep of estimates if the estimator is not available.
- Maintenance of the Model – periodic updates for crewing, labor costs, new machines, etc.
- Communication to sales on the Model – training as required.
4) Manage Freight Quotations
- Provide freight quotations as requested by customers, pending COO approval.
- Coordination with company freight analyst to learn lane rates.
- Calculation of landed pricing / case, based on calculated brackets and lane rates.
5) Maintain “Quote Tracking” file
- Create and maintain database of all pricing activity.
6) Support to Director of Quality for BPI Compostability Requirements
- In particular, provide a detailed formulation table for each item submitted for BPI approval.
- Provide and review with the Director of Quality for inclusion in the BPI applications.
7) Maintain detailed assessment of Capacity across all company assets.
- Maintain capacity file that ties to budget / new opportunities for each class of equipment in each facility.
8) Maintain up-to-date knowledge of Paper Market dynamics.
- Understand paper component in our cost structure, supervise Pricing Analyst as she creates and maintains paper cost recovery through periodic adjustments.
- Understand the full range paper substrate applications and options, with insight on spec’ing the best substrate for each bid opportunity.
- Close contact with Director of Procurement, establish independent contact with paper supplier reps as it makes sense to gain information on technical attributes for specific grades.
9) Sales Analysis on as needed basis.
- Maintain Sales Pivot Table as an up-to-date tally of sales history. Make this available to all Sales personnel. Train them to use it as they track their customer activity.
- As requested, investigate forward looking sales (Open Orders) to predict short-term sales trends. Communicate to COO and others when FC deviates from likely Sales volume.
10) Interaction with Customers as Requested/Required by the Sales Team.
- Most prevalent would be the review of major bid opportunities directly with our customer partner.
- Along with sales, seek complete understanding and insight on complex bids.
Qualifications:
- Analytical expertise – very good math skills, demonstrated ability to manage, organize and present large amount of data accurately in clear, concise manner.
- Excellent PC skills, with emphasis on command of upper intermediate Excel skills.
- Very good writing skill – able to concisely communicate via email critical points as required.
- Comfort and skill in interacting with our Enterprise System (Alere). This includes complete understanding of our BOM/Work Order system (Alere Manufacturing). Also, required is very strong ability to navigate and extract data from the Alere Accounting system to support the tasks noted above. These skills can be trained for a new person but will require a person that has demonstrated familiarity and comfort with data management.
- Deep experience is not required, provided the applicant has apparent analytical skill and work ethic to handle the demands of the position.

- Ability to effectively present information to top management, customers as required.
- PC proficiency is essential (Windows environment) and strong working knowledge of Excel, Word and Access.
