JOB SUMMARY
Typical workdays include team meetings, planning for each customer visit, andusing company trucks/tools to service, calibrate, and repair a customer's weighing equipment. We provide service to a broad range of industrial customers, working both indoors and outdoors on equipment with attention to detail.
When you join our team as a Field Service Scale Technician, you start out by completing a hands-on onboarding program focused on the fundamentals of the scale technician trade. In addition to completing the necessary training requirements, you also take part in a mentorship program while first working in the field. When you successfully complete all requirements of your onboarding program, you will become a Certified Scale Technician. From there, you may advance into more senior technician levels. There are also opportunities to evolve into other areas of the business, such as IT systems data networking, sales, or customer support.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
Responsible for traveling to customer sites for conducting installations of new or replacement Fairbanks Scales weighing equipment such as truck or rail scales, floor scales, or industrial scales, performing preventative maintenance, inspecting, diagnosing, and repairing our weighing instruments of all capacities and applications to ensure they are calibrated and operating correctly and give accurate readings.
Essential Job Duties:
· Provide installation, maintenance, field service repair and inspection services on weighing equipment using testing devices, gauges, and other tools and equipment
· Check work orders and related manuals, blueprints, and schematic diagrams to determine tools, equipment, and parts needed for installation of repair assignment
· Discuss assignment with customer and inspect installation site to verify that electrical supply wires, conduit, switches, and circuit breakers are installed according to specifications
· Complete job hazard analysis ensuring safety protocols and PPE are in place before starting any task
· Test electrical components and replace faulty components
· Conduct routine preventative maintenance according to established guidelines and schedules, verifying dimensions and tolerances using measuring instruments
· Train customer's staff in operation of equipment
· Properly maintain all equipment, tools, and facilities for safe operation
· Set up, operate, and troubleshoot a variety of machines and/or equipment on customer site in accordance with established procedures and guidelines
· Accurate and timely completion of all reporting. This includes but is not limited to customer tasks, test reports, time reporting, safety records, inventory, driving or activity logs, etc.
· Plan routes and schedule service to meet customer appointments in a timely manner
· Comply with truck driving rules and regulations (size, weight, route designations, parking, and break periods) as well as with company policies and procedures
· Advise management regarding customer satisfaction, product performance, or suggestions for product/service improvements
· Timely completion of training programs as assigned
· Maintain parts inventory and order parts as necessary
· Follow all Federal, State, local, regulations, and Company Safety policies
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

- High school diploma or GED
- Higher education coursework in related fields (electronics, metrology, etc.) preferred.
- Work experience in a laboratory setting or with electronics preferred

· Ability to lift and/or move equipment weighing up to 100lbs
· Must have or be able to obtain a class B CDL
· Must have or be able to obtain and maintain State certification for Weights and Measures.
· Able to stand or walk for long periods of time.
· Must have a valid US driver’s license
· Knowledge of machines and tools, circuit boards, processors, chips, electronic equipment and related hardware/ software, including repair and maintenance. Keep up with technology changes to products as introduced.
· Proficient in Microsoft 365.
· Must have ability to learn and demonstrate proficiency in company software applications used in this role.
· Good oral and written communication skills.
· Using critical thinking to leverage problem solving skills.
· Must be at least 18 years of age.
· Independent and teamwork skills.
· Positive attitude and personal focus on customer service.
· Technical aptitude or interest in learning repair and installation of electronics and components in machinery.
· Must have basic knowledge of mechanical maintenance and electronic skills, including working knowledge of a digital voltmeter.

· Technician is responsible for seeing the job through, from start to completion, regardless of issues uncovered.
GOAL: No loose ends with clients.
Organization
· Organization of tools and workspace to be prepared for work.
· Must be organized for the start of the day and prepared for the next day at the end of your shift.
· Workspace and van checked weekly for compliance.
GOAL: +/- 90% compliance
Calibration Accuracy
· Comply with ASC’s standard calibration procedures and measurement systems for use on customers’ equipment.
· Accurately and efficiently completes all necessary documentation and reports, as required. Fully complete service reports onsite.
GOAL: 100% compliance, +/- 95% accuracy
Communication
· Timely communication with operational staff regarding any issues with customer, equipment, lab personnel, and/or any other situations that arise during calibration upon return from job site.
· Document findings onsite.
GOAL: 100% compliance
Persistent Troubleshooting
· Use all your mechanical maintenance and electronic skills, including use of a digital voltmeter, to solve issues before escalating.
· Escalate issues to master technician and/or VP only after you have exhausted all problem-solving avenues.
GOAL: Once fully trained, less than 10% of service calls requiring escalation
