As a Registered Veterinary Technician, you will provide paramedical treatment to animals in Los Angeles County animal care center/shelter facilities or assists in zoonosis control in the Veterinary Public Health and Rabies Control.

The County of Los Angeles Department of Animal Care and Control is one of the largest and most progressive animal control agencies in the United States. Our seven animal care centers serve over 3 million residents across 45 contract cities and unincorporated areas. We cover a diverse area of more than 3,400 square miles, providing 24/7 animal control and rescue services.
REQUIREMENTS TO QUALIFY:
LICENSE (s) REQUIRED:
A valid Registered Veterinary Technician Certificate issued by The California Veterinary Medical Board.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENT INFORMATION:
Applicants must attach a legible photocopy of their California State License to practice Veterinary Medicine at the time of filing or within 15 calendar days of filing. LICENSE:
A valid California Class C Driver License or the ability to use an alternative method of transportation when needed to carry out job-related essential functions.
PHYSICAL CLASS:
Physical Class III – Moderate: This class requires that the incumbent stand or walk most of the time, with bending, stooping, squatting, twisting, and reaching; includes working on irregular surfaces, occasionally lifting objects weighing over 25 pounds, and frequent lifting of 10-25 pounds.
Test scores cannot be given over the telephone.

EXAMINATION CONTENT:
This examination will consist of multiple choice and/or simulation assessments, weighted 100%, covering Deductive Reasoning, Reading Comprehension, Professional Potential, Achievement, Coping with Uncertainty, Responsibility, Working to High Quality Standards, Willingness to Learn, Working Relationships, Analyzing Information, Learning Quickly, Generating New Ideas, Using Time Efficiently, and Adapting to Change.
STANDARDIZED MULTIPLE CHOICE TESTS ARE NOT REVIEWABLE BY CANDIDATES PER CIVIL SERVICE RULE 7.19.
Applicants must meet the requirements, and achieve a passing score of 70% or higher on the examination in order to be placed on the Eligible List.

SPECIAL INFORMATION:
Appointees may be required to work any shift including evenings, nights, weekends and holidays.
This position requires occasionally lifting objects weighing over 25 pounds. Physical fitness for this position will be determined in a medical examination.
ELIGIBILITY AND VACANCY INFORMATION:
The names of successful candidates will be placed on the Eligible List for a period of twelve (12) months following the date of eligibility.
The resulting eligible list for this examination will be used to fill vacancies in the Department of Animal Care and Control Care Centers throughout Los Angeles County.
