Starting Range*: $67,980.00 - $83,975.00 Depending on Experience

Savings Bank of Mendocino County has proudly been serving the needs of our communities since 1903 and is seeking a qualified professional for the role of a Small Business Banker in the Small Business Lending Department. This position involves evaluating small business loans under $500,000 and managing small business relationships. Small Business Bankers work extensively with the community, small business owners, the Senior Lending Officer, the Chief Credit Officer, and the Credit Administration Team.
The ideal candidate has at least three years’ retail banking experience in a dynamic environment, preferably focused on small business banking. A successful person in this role is proactive; highly motivated to meet team objectives, while maintaining individual performance; analytical; and has strong communication and time management skills. This employee must be comfortable interacting regularly with a broad range of individuals, including customers, executive officers, and support staff. 1. Provides a positive customer service experience in harmony with our Customer Service Standards and Principles and Professional Standards.
2. Acts as the primary relationship manager for a portfolio of small business customers in an assigned territory.
3. Responsible for identifying and establishing relationships with prospective small business customers, for assessing the small businesses to gain a complete understanding of their small business and commercial banking needs, and for growing the portfolio and deepening the relationship by acquiring new business.
4. Engages with existing small business customers by asking questions to learn about their financial needs, understand their financial goals and share how the Bank can help them succeed, now and in the future, through proactive relationship management.
5. Connects with customers during all phases of business life cycle, while leveraging product and service knowledge; conducts conversations to discuss and discover credit, deposit and service needs and opportunities; and demonstrates features and benefits of options available.
6. Serves as point of contact and customer advocate when needs, questions and/or concerns arise and tactfully and effectively handles them, within the Bank’s policies.
7. Represents the Bank through active involvement and participation in community organizations and events; builds relationships with centers of influence.

- High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
- Three years’ experience and/or training in banking, finance, or similar position
- Knowledge and understanding of retail compliance controls, risk management and loss prevention
- Experience with Microsoft Office Suite
- Associate degree in a field related to the position
- Credit analysis and underwriting experience
- Experience managing a dedicated book of small business customers
- Spanish/English Bilingual skills
