Position Location: Atlanta, GA and surrounding Metro area

Neel-Schaffer, an Engineering News-Record Top 500 Design firm with offices in nine states, has an immediate opportunity for a Construction Inspector to join our growing engineering firm. This position will be based in Atlanta, Georgia or surrounding metro area. Travel will be required.

This position involves skilled sub-professional engineering work in the field and office. The Construction Inspector will act independently and as part of a team in providing inspection of specific parts of contract work, such as highway, bridge, municipal design build projects, asphalt laydown operations, grading, or concrete inspection.

Education and/or experience:

· Three (3) + years experience in Construction Engineering and Inspection on roadway and/or bridge transportation construction projects

· Previous Inspector experience with GDOT, preferred

· GDOT Construction Engineering Inspection Training Group 1 and 2, preferred

· GDOT WECS, required

· GDOT Field Concrete Technician Certification, or ability to obtain within first 2 months of employment, preferred

· GSWCC Level 1A, required

· Working knowledge of the principles and practices of civil engineering and construction methods, materials, and equipment.

· Working knowledge of GDOT manuals, policies and procedures

· Ability to understand, explain, and administer contracts; and interpret construction plans, provisions, standards, and specifications

· Good organizational and communication skills

· Ability to work independently and as part of a team

· Basic computer skills are required; including knowledge of Microsoft Office products

· Travel into Metro Atlanta is required, clean driving record
