Company Overview
Rescue Cooling Rentals provides temporary HVAC and climate control solutions across Texas, Arizona, Florida, Georgia, and other high-growth Sunbelt markets. When air conditioning systems fail during extreme heat, the consequences are immediate: businesses shut down, schools send students home, healthcare facilities face safety risks, and families are forced into hotels.
Rescue Cooling responds fast. In many cases, we deliver and install portable AC units within 90 minutes, restoring safe indoor conditions and keeping operations running. Our reputation is built on speed, reliability, and execution, and our growth is driven by strong operators on the ground.
Position Overview
We are seeking motivated Summer Operations Associates to support peak-season demand in our local markets. These roles are market-specific, and you will be embedded directly with a local Rescue Cooling team.
Operations Associates work closely with the local Operations Lead or Branch Manager while also interfacing with central leadership. This role is designed for individuals who take pride in hard work, responsibility, and learning by doing.
This is not a desk job. It is a hands-on operational role where you will be trusted with real responsibility from day one.
What You’ll Be Doing
As a Summer Operations Associate, you will be responsible for executing Rescue Cooling’s core service promise: fast, professional deployment of equipment when customers need it most.
Customer Service & Field Support
- Interact professionally with customers during deliveries and installations
- Understand customer needs on site and communicate clearly with the operations team
- Represent Rescue Cooling with professionalism, courtesy, and urgency.
You will field inbound phone calls from prospective customers who need our services. You will be trained to spec out the right technical solution, address the customer’s needs in a high stress situation, and close this order with autonomy by the end of the summer.
Customers are often stressed when you arrive. When cold air starts blowing again, the relief is real, and you will feel it.
Safety & Physical Requirements
- Must be 21 years of age by May 1 (insurance requirement)
- Clean driving record required; no special driver’s license needed
- Ability to lift, push, and maneuver portable HVAC equipment
- Comfortable working outdoors and in hot weather
- Willingness to work long days during peak demand
Safety matters. You will follow company safety procedures and all applicable OSHA guidelines at all times.
Schedule & Work Expectations
This is a high-intensity summer role, aligned with when customers need us most.
- Standard schedule: 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM, Monday–Friday
- On-call rotation: Every other week, including evenings and weekends
- Typical workload: 40–60 hours per week on average. But this varies widely. Hours can be less when temperatures are cooler and demand is slow, and hours can surge during heat waves.
- Overtime pay provided for all hours over 40
When you are on call, you step up. (Think of us like the fire department…but for essential cooling services.) When you are not on call, you can confidently plan evenings and weekends.
Training & Professional Development
This internship is one of the best ways to learn how a real operating business works.
You will receive hands-on exposure to:
- Field operations and logistics
- Team coordination under time pressure
- Customer service in high-stakes situations
There is no substitute for learning by doing. This summer will be a period of intense growth.
This internship typically qualifies for academic credit for most majors.
Career Path
This role is designed as a pipeline into leadership, not just a summer job.
Top-performing Summer Operations Associates are offered full-time roles upon graduation, with a clear progression:
Operations Associate → Operations Lead → Branch Manager
Branch Managers at Rescue Cooling can earn six-figure compensation and participate in the company’s stock option program. Many of our leaders started exactly where you would start this summer.
This is a different track than Sales, but just as critical to the company’s success.
Why This Internship Is Different
- You will do real work that truly matters to customers
- You will be trusted with responsibility early
- You will develop grit, confidence, and operational judgment
- You will see how leadership is built through execution
If you take pride in showing up, working hard, and being reliable when it counts, you will thrive here.
Compensation & Earnings
This is not a sales role. It is a fast-paced operational role with significant overtime potential.
- Hourly Rate: $20/hour
- Overtime: Paid for all hours over 40
- Performance Bonus: Target of $6,000 paid at the end of the season. This bonus payout depends on total company revenue plus revenue in your own local market. It’s designed to reward both local teams and the whole company together when we achieve our revenue goals.
Typical Summer Earnings:
Approximately $25,000 for associates working full-time from May 1 through August 31. Your earnings scale directly with effort and availability.
Pay: $20.00 per hour
