BAR BUSSER/EXPO Job Description:
To care for the cleanliness of the bar and lawn, as well as deliver food to tables for the bar staff.
Dress Code:
The bar is more casual, but keep it modest and professional.
Black, close-toed, non-slip shoes must be worn. Long hair must be pulled back.
AM Bussers/Bar/Lawn Bussers & Expo:
Black logo shirts, Elkins on left Lapel, black pants, skirt, shorts (mid-thigh length) Embroidered apron
PM Busser:
Black Elkins polo, black pants or skirt (mid-thigh length) Embroidered apron
Expectations:
- Run appetizers, salads, entrees, and sides for the bar staff.
- Water tables.
- Clear/bus tables.
- Keep floors, lawn and chairs clean and in the correct layout!!
- Help servers.
Opening Duties:
- Stock ice
- Polish any silverware that needs it.
- Check to see if bartender needs anything stocked or prepped.
Closing Duties:
- Check to see if any side work needs to be done (rollups, condiments, cups, etc.)
- Make sure areas are clean and tidy.
- Check with bar staff and MOD before clocking out.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
1. Turn tables- clean and reset tables. You and the host should communicate with each other how many the tables should be set for. It is important to communicate with wait staff to ensure everyone is away of table times and turn-overs.
2. Water - make sure everyone has a full water glass (don’t overkill with constant water filling!).
3. Help the wait staff as time allowsa. Delivering food and drinks b. Anything to help make their job easier. Keep communication open with wait staff in order to help our guests the best way we possibly can.
4. Help the dishwashers as time allows and at the end of the night. After the dining room is set up for the next day and help clean the kitchen.
5. Trays are to be used at all times. Do not leave trays or tray-stands in the bar or on the lawn, as space is tight.
6. Please keep the V area as organized as possible. This will make your job as well as others' easier.
7. Do not stay and chat with the customers at their table. The server needs to be the main “face” in order to not cause confusion for our guests.
8. If the customer tries to order from you, explain that you’ll send over their server.
9. DO NOT stand around. Please stand in your designated section (Outside near corner of building), this way your can see everything happening on the lawn.
10. You are expected to be in uniform when you arrive at work. For women, you may wear either slacks or a skirt, a plain shirt (all black), and for men you may wear slacks and a plain shirt (all black). Closed-toe shoes are ALWAYS required.
11. Long hair MUST be pulled back.
12. The more you communicate with the restaurant and kitchen staff, the more fluent and efficient your job will be. Communication really is the name of the game.
13. You must learn and memorize table numbers and seat numbers. This is how our restaurant staff stays on the same page and avoids any confusion.
14. Be familiar with Elkins Resort, dry-storage, wait station, “V”, kitchen, and freezer.
15. Clear plates! Clear salad plates, appetizer plates, and any other un-used items on tables. The more you clear during the meal, the easier it will be to bus the table for a turn-ove
