Full Job Description

Job Summary
The Night Shift Lead is a working lead position on site for the evening and night shifts. This person oversees the night crew, ensures all assigned cleaning is completed to standard while the building is vacant, and also performs hands-on deeper cleaning. The Night Shift Lead is the main link between the night crew and the Day Supervisor, communicating progress, problems, and special requests between shifts.

Key Responsibilities:

Lead and oversee all night-shift janitorial associates on site.
Assign areas and tasks each night that may require special attention and verify that all daily and weekly cleaning is completed to scope-of-work standards before the crew leaves.
Assist hands-on with deeper cleaning while the building is vacant, in addition to overseeing the crew.
Serve as the primary communication link with the Day Supervisor — receive the daytime handoff, report what was completed each night, and flag outstanding tasks, problem areas, and supply needs.
Walk and inspect assigned areas (classrooms, restrooms, hallways, common areas, cafeteria, auditorium) for quality and completeness.
Ensure proper and safe operation of provided equipment (Kaivac water vacuum, auto scrubber, buffers) and that floor-care frequencies are met (e.g., hallway buffing/auto-scrubbing twice weekly).
Adjust the night crew’s plan around the ACS Events Calendar, including auditorium/balcony cleaning tied to scheduled events.
Coordinate the rotation of weekly classroom tasks so every classroom is completed within each week.
Enforce safety, professionalism, and proper conduct on the school campus throughout the shift.

Qualifications:

Prior lead or supervisory experience in janitorial, custodial, or facilities work preferred.
Experience operating floor-care equipment (buffers, auto scrubbers, water vacuums) strongly preferred.
Strong communication skills and reliability — this role is the key contact between shifts.
Able to both direct a crew and perform hands-on cleaning.
Able to pass a background check
Able to stand, walk, bend, lift up to 50 lbs, and perform physical cleaning tasks throughout the shift.
