Full Job Description

Guided by High Point University’s commitment to delivering an extraordinary education in an environment that fosters leadership, character development, and critical life skills, the primary focus of this role is to champion student safety, cultivate cultures of dignity, and establish robust educational frameworks that mitigate risky behaviors and institutional misconduct. The Director will provide strategic leadership, operational oversight, and educational architecture for student organizations, fraternities and sororities, and other high-risk organizations in meeting this focus.

Operating within a holistic student development paradigm, the position will serve as the university’s primary architect for student organization/chapter anti-hazing education, alcohol safety management, social environment monitoring, and cross-departmental compliance. The Director will work to ensure strict alignment with state and federal statutory requirements while actively partnering with internal and external stakeholders to foster a secure, reasonable, and welcoming campus environment.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education

Master’s degree required

Experience and Training

2-3 years of experience in student organization/fraternity and sorority life advising, student conduct, anti-hazing and/or alcohol and other drug (AOD) education or similar fields.
Experience working with student organizations, campus programming, or higher education environments.

Knowledge, Skills, Ability

Strong organizational, administrative, and project management skills
Excellent attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
Strong customer service orientation and relationship-building skills
Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with campus partners
Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise sound judgment

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Designs, implements, and evaluates comprehensive educational initiatives focused on mitigating hazing dynamics within student organizations, fraternities and sororities, and performing arts groups.
Ensures all educational initiatives align with the mandates of the Federal Stop Campus Hazing Act and the North Carolina Anti-Hazing Law (“Harrison’s Law”).
Facilitates organizational training sessions that emphasize policy literacy, bystander behavior and risk and protective factors as it pertains to hazing prevention.
Provides consultation in the construction of new member education programs.
Develops and delivers advisor training curriculum to faculty and staff, and advisors, equipping them with the tools, knowledge, and strategies necessary to advise groups effectively.
Serves as a liaison to University Law Enforcement and the Office of Community Standards, assisting directly in the coordination of investigations, information sharing, and adjudication processes when policy violations are reported.
Works with the Office of Student Success to ensure that Success coaches are properly trained and supported to serve as a hazing protective factor for first year students.
Partners closely with the University Athletics to ensure that all varsity athletic teams, coaching staffs, and athletic support units are provided with support as needed.
Provides strategic leadership and oversight regarding alcohol management, safety regulations, and risk reduction policies for all student organization facilities, chapters, and organized campus functions.
Directs the development, execution, and tracking of mandatory Social Host Training programs designed to educate student organization leaders on liability, bystander intervention, and responsible event management.
Supervises and refines chapter and council social event monitoring initiatives, creating accountability metrics and training student safety monitors to enforce university policies during registered gatherings.
Governs the formal registration, review, and approval process for all organizational social events, verifying that safety plans, guest lists, and third-party vendor arrangements comply with institutional policies.
Maintains a continuous, collaborative relationship with University Police to coordinate event staffing, security logistics, emergency response protocols, and joint educational safety briefings.
Liaises regularly with the Title IX Office to administer specialized training, conduct ongoing environmental scanning of student social spaces, and establish safe organizational environments that prioritize physical security, emotional well-being, and gender equality.
