Job Overview

We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Structural/Decorative Metals Estimator to join our team. In this role, you will be responsible for accurately estimating costs for structural and decorative metal projects, ensuring competitive pricing while maintaining quality standards. Your expertise will help drive project success from initial bid to final completion, supporting our commitment to delivering exceptional craftsmanship in the construction industry. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work on a variety of commercial projects, utilizing your skills in blueprint reading, cost management, and client communication to contribute to our company's growth and reputation.

Duties

Review construction drawings, blueprints, and technical specifications to determine material requirements and project scope
Prepare detailed estimates for structural and decorative metal components using estimating software such as HeavyBid or similar tools
Collaborate with project managers, clients, and subcontractors to negotiate pricing and finalize contracts
Manage project budgets by tracking costs, controlling expenses, and ensuring estimates align with project goals
Utilize construction management software and Bluebeam to review plans, annotate drawings, and streamline estimation processes
Develop accurate material takeoffs from blueprints and interpret technical drawings for precise cost estimation
Communicate effectively with clients and internal teams to clarify project details, resolve discrepancies, and ensure smooth project execution

Requirements

Proven experience managing projects as a construction estimator within the heavy construction or commercial construction industry
Strong proficiency in estimating software such as HeavyBid, Xactimate, or equivalent programs
Extensive knowledge of construction drawing review, blueprint reading, and interpreting technical documentation
Skilled in using Microsoft Office Suite including spreadsheets for data analysis and cost tracking
Familiarity with Bluebeam for digital plan review and markup processes
Ability to estimate material requirements accurately from blueprints and manage material cost estimating processes
Excellent negotiation skills coupled with experience in pricing strategies and contract management
Construction site experience is highly desirable to better understand on-the-ground project needs
Strong understanding of construction industry standards related to cost control, budgeting, and contract administration
