Full Job Description

We are a growing law firm specializing in catastrophic injury cases, seeking an experienced paralegal to join our team. This role involves supporting attorneys in all phases of litigation, including case preparation, discovery, and trial. This is an excellent opportunity for a dedicated professional who values client relationships and wants to make a meaningful impact advocating for those who have been harmed.

Key Responsibilities:

Case Preparation: Assist attorneys in preparing for all stages of litigation, including drafting legal documents, organizing files, and conducting legal research
Discovery: Manage the discovery process, including drafting and responding to discovery requests, and summarizing medical records and depositions
Medical Records: organize, review, draft summaries and chronologies
Trial Preparation: Prepare exhibits, organize trial materials, and assist with witness preparation
Client Communication: Maintain regular communication with clients, keeping them informed of case developments and addressing their questions and concerns with compassion
Expert Coordination: Coordinate with medical experts, healthcare providers, and opposing counsel
Case and Attorney Management: Manage case and attorney calendars and deadlines to ensure timely progression of matters

Qualifications:

Minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a paralegal.
Strong knowledge of civil litigation procedures in South Carolina
Paralegal certificate or equivalent experience in personal injury/civil litigation.
Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills with emphasis on client relations.
Proficiency in legal research, document preparation, and case management software.
Self-motivated and able to work independently as well as part of a team.

Location Requirements & Work Environment: We are only interviewing candidates who reside on Johns Island, James Island, or nearby areas (i.e. West Ashley). If you reside outside of those areas and generally 30+ minutes from Johns Island, you will not be considered unless you plan on moving to the area in the next 3-6 months. Please state in your cover letter your current location (City and State) and if outside of Charleston County, your future intentions as it relates to permanent residence. No law school students or recent law school graduates will be considered for this position.
