Job Summary

We are seeking an energetic and detail-oriented Medical Receptionist to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this vital role, you will serve as the first point of contact for patients, providing exceptional customer service while managing a variety of administrative tasks. Your enthusiasm and organizational skills will ensure smooth clinic operations, accurate documentation, and a welcoming environment for all visitors. The ideal candidate will possess strong computer skills, familiarity with electronic health record (EHR) systems, and a passion for supporting patient care through efficient administrative support.

Duties

Greet patients warmly and professionally, ensuring a positive first impression
Schedule appointments and manage the clinic’s calendar using systems like Epic, Meditech, or Athenahealth
Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance eligibility verification using platforms such as EHR systems or insurance portals
Collect patient information accurately, including medical history, intake forms, and demographic data
Handle multi-line phone systems with excellent phone etiquette to answer inquiries and direct calls appropriately
Maintain and update medical records in compliance with HIPAA and clinical confidentiality policies
Assist with billing processes including medical collection procedures, CPT coding, ICD-10/ICD-9 coding, and Medicare documentation review
Manage electronic health records (EHR) management using platforms like eClinicalWorks or Dentrix, ensuring accuracy and confidentiality
Support medical office management tasks such as filing, data entry, and document review
Facilitate communication between patients and healthcare providers regarding care plans and follow-up appointments
Perform basic medical billing tasks including insurance verification and claims submission using software like Eaglesoft or Dentrix
Ensure smooth front desk operations by managing appointment scheduling, patient check-in/out procedures, and maintaining office supplies

Experience

Prior experience working in a medical or dental office environment is highly preferred
Proficiency with EHR systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, or eClinicalWorks is essential
Strong knowledge of health insurance procedures including verification, billing, CPT coding, ICD-10/ICD-9 coding, and Medicare guidelines
Bilingual abilities are a plus to effectively serve diverse patient populations
Experience with medical terminology, clinical confidentiality policies, and health information management is required
Demonstrated clerical skills including typing (10 key typing), filing, data entry, and use of Microsoft Office applications
Excellent customer service skills with the ability to handle multi-line phone systems professionally
Knowledge of dental terminology and experience in dental clinics or dental offices is advantageous
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
