Deaf Services Coordinator

Center for Independent Living of South Florida (CILSF)

Position Type: Full-Time

Location: Miami, FL (In-Office Position)

Reports To: Director of Programs & Community

Salary: $20.00 per hour

Position Summary

The Deaf Services Coordinator is responsible for leading and coordinating CILSF's Deaf Services Program, ensuring high-quality independent living services for Deaf, Hard of Hearing, DeafBlind, and Late-Deafened individuals throughout Miami-Dade County. This position provides direct consumer services, oversees case management and program operations, develops community partnerships, conducts outreach, and supervises Deaf Services staff to ensure program goals, compliance, and consumer outcomes are achieved. This is an in-office position with community travel as needed.

Essential Responsibilities

● Coordinate and oversee all Deaf Services program operations.

● Conduct consumer assessments and develop Independent Living Plans (ILPs).

● Provide independent living skills training, advocacy, peer support, information and referral, and case management.

● Connect consumers with community resources, housing, benefits, employment, education, assistive technology, and other supports.

● Complete and maintain accurate consumer service records using designated data management systems, case files, and program documentation, while ensuring quality, compliance, and timely reporting in accordance with organizational policies and funding requirements.

● Maintain accurate records and prepare required program reports as needed.

● Represent CILSF at community meetings, outreach events, trainings, and conferences.

● Build and maintain partnerships with agencies serving the Deaf and disability communities.

● Assist with grant objectives, program development, and strategic initiatives.

● Occasional evening and weekend work may be required to support community events, training, staffing needs, and program activities.

Qualifications

● Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, Human Services, Education, Rehabilitation, Business, or a related field; or a minimum of (3) years of relevant experience.

● Deaf professionals with lived experience and a strong understanding of Deaf culture and the Deaf community preferred.

● Employment services experience preferred, including job readiness, job development, career coaching, or workforce development.

● Fluency in American Sign Language (ASL) is required.

● Knowledge of Independent Living philosophy and disability rights preferred.

● Strong leadership, organizational, communication, and case management skills. Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information.

● Experience with community outreach, public presentations, and partnership development.

● Proficient in Microsoft Office and data management systems.

● Ability to stay current on trends, best practices, and developments in disability services and supports.

● Reliable transportation and willingness to travel throughout Miami-Dade County and out of state, as needed.

● Required to complete background check as part of the onboarding process through the Florida Department of Law Enforcement (FDLE) Clearinghouse https://info.flclearinghouse.com
