THIS IS AN AT-WILL POSITION.
Palm Beach County’s Intergovernmental Affairs and Community Engagement Department is seeking a Grant Program Writer to identify grant funding opportunities, coordinate grant applications, prepare persuasive grant proposals, ensure applications comply with funding requirements, and assist County departments throughout the grant research, application, submittal, and award processes.
This highly responsible, professional role requires strong analytical, technical writing, project management, and communication skills. The selected candidate will have the ability to exercise independent judgment while managing multiple deadlines and priorities.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Researches, identifies, and evaluates federal, state, local, and private grant opportunities that align with County priorities and departmental needs.
- Develops and writes compelling grant proposals, applications, letters of intent, and supporting documentation.
- Interprets grant guidelines and funding requirements to ensure complete and compliant submissions.
- Coordinates with department staff, finance personnel, subject matter experts, and external partners to gather information necessary for grant applications.
- Monitors grant application deadlines and maintains a calendar of funding opportunities.
- Reviews grant solicitations and communicates eligibility requirements and funding priorities to County departments.
- Builds and maintains productive relationships with funding agencies, community organizations, and County stakeholders.
- Stays informed of changes in grant regulations, funding priorities, and best practices.
QUALIFICATIONS
This position requires qualified applicants to possess one of the following:
Bachelor’s Degree in Business/Public Administration, Finance, Political Science or related field and a minimum of three (3) years of progressively responsible, professional experience in grant writing and grant administration,
OR
Unrelated Bachelor’s Degree and a minimum of four (4) years of progressively responsible, professional experience in grant writing and grant administration,
OR
Associate’s Degree in Business/Public Administration, Finance, Political Science or related field and a minimum of four (4) years of progressively responsible, professional experience in grant writing and grant administration,
OR
Graduation from high school or an equivalent recognized certification and a minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible, professional experience in grant writing and grant administration.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred qualifications include:
- Experience securing competitive grant awards for a large public or non-profit organization,
- Experience sourcing and analyzing funding opportunities for a variety of initiatives, and
- Grant Professional Certified (GPC) credential.
