Full Job Description

Join WITRON as a PLC Comissioner

The PLC Commissioner serves as the primary controls and automation expert supporting WITRON's proprietary automated material handling systems. This role is responsible for commissioning, programming, testing, troubleshooting, and optimizing PLC-controlled equipment to ensure peak system performance and reliability. Working closely with global engineering teams and onsite service personnel, the PLC Commissioner leads startup and commissioning activities, resolves complex controls issues, and supports customers throughout the US. The ideal candidate has a strong foundation in electrical controls, mechanical, industrial automation, and troubleshooting, along with a passion for solving complex technical challenges. While PLC programming is a key aspect of the role, expertise in WITRON's unique machine design, controls architecture, and programming standards is developed through hands-on training and experience. Success in this position requires a willingness to learn, adapt, and collaborate with global teams while supporting system installations, upgrades, and operational excellence through extensive travel.

Primary Responsibilities

Modify, maintain, repair electronics equipment and systems to ensure proper functioning.

Set up and operate specialized and standard test equipment to diagnose, test and analyze the performance of electronic components or systems.

Design, program, test, and resolve faults for PLC-related architecture for automated material handling applications.

Replace defective components or parts, using hand tools and precision instruments.

Work with onsite teams to identify and resolve equipment issues.

Travel extensively in support of onsite teams.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

Associate degree in Electrical Engineering, Electronics, Industrial Maintenance, Mechatronics, or closely related field
Basic knowledge of industrial automation

Complex problem solving and deductive reasoning

Knowledge of PLC programming (Siemens knowledge is a plus)

Understanding of electrical motors, servo motors, and VFD/Servo drives

Basic knowledge of AC and DC control systems

Ability to read and understand electrical schematics, wiring diagrams and drawings (experience with AutoCAD is a plus)

Experience in troubleshooting electrical control systems

Work effectively in a team and individual setting

Comfortable working at heights

Previous electrical experience

Availability to travel frequently to various locations in the U.S., Canada, and Europe (approximately 70% or more)
