Full Job Description

Full-Service Bookkeeper

Located in the Baltimore metro area, the employer is an established specialty construction company.

The Full-Service Bookkeeper will have functional responsibility over accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger and cash management. The Full-Service Bookkeeper will ensure that the company has the systems and procedures in place to conduct flawless financial reporting and audits, drive change management with process improvement, and scale accounting infrastructure to support an expanding local company.

This is a role where you will be required to roll up your sleeves and understand accounting / finance as well as understand the flow of information between the different departments.

Previous experience as a bookkeeper in the construction industry is required.

Full-Service Bookkeeper Responsibilities

Assume complete responsibility for the company’s accounting function
Provide managerial guidance as well as day-to-day operations on AP, AR, Payroll, GL, and complete entries as needed
Prepare and submit Invoices
Prepare and process weekly payroll including preparation and submission of wage scale reports, ensuring amounts are accurate and correct
Monitor cash flow including receipts and disbursements ensuring amounts are accurate and correct
Prepare weekly accounts receivable collection report
Prepare weekly cash disbursement reports
Maintain construction WIP schedule
Perform monthly close tasks
Review entries and reports prepared by staff
Review bank reconciliations
GL Review
Prepare Balance Sheet workpaper support
Prepare summary reports
Prepare Financial Statements
Oversee Certified Payroll filing and tracking processes
Assist with submission and monitoring of reporting for owner controlled insurance programs (OCIP) relating to various jobs
Ensure that all tax payments are made in a timely manner and maintain receipts of submissions
Manage subcontractor and vendor compliance processes
Maintain financial records and process payments for other small entities
Perform monthly budget vs actual analysis and identify variances
Prepare various analysis and other specialized reports
Fixed Asset Management
Manage the annual audit process; provide coordination and support to the outside tax CPAs
Additional responsibilities/tasks as company executives may require
Maintain strict confidentiality

Qualifications 2-5 years of experience as bookkeeper in the construction industry Accounting degree or related preferred, but not required

Proficiency with construction accounting software, preferably “Foundation”
Impeccable attention to detail
Strong analytical and organization skills
Strong interpersonal skills, ability to communicate effectively and work with others
Ability to work and stay organized in a fast paced environment
Ability to work independently & assume sole responsibility for all accounting functions/duties, as well as manage general office needs
Current Notary Public certification or ability to obtain

This is a full-time position, typically requiring 40 hours per week, with early morning arrival. Our office hours are 7am- 4pm M-F. There will be busier times during the year when additional hours may be required to complete required tasks.

Bi-lingual English/Spanish, a plus.
