Staff Accountant

Location: Novi, MI
Job Type: Full-Time | Evaluation-to-Hire
Pay: Starting at $20.00 per hour
Schedule: Day Shift | Preferred In-Office (5 Days/Week)

About the Opportunity

Our client, a growing and stable company in Novi, Michigan, is seeking a detail-oriented Staff Accountant to join their accounting team. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional looking to grow their career with a company that offers advancement opportunities, comprehensive benefits, and a collaborative work environment.

The ideal candidate will have strong organizational skills, excellent communication abilities, and a commitment to accuracy in both Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable functions.

ResponsibilitiesAccounts Receivable (A/R)

Process and monitor incoming customer payments
Collect payments from customers and accurately record transactions
Maintain and update customer account information
Resolve payment discrepancies and account issues
Track incoming payments and generate reports
Utilize strong communication and organizational skills to support collections efforts

Accounts Payable (A/P)

Collect, review, and verify vendor invoices
Perform invoice pre-audits to ensure accuracy and appropriateness
Ensure all approvals and supporting documentation are obtained before payment processing
Enter vendor invoices into the accounting system for payment
Monitor and record EFT and ACH vendor payments
Respond to vendor inquiries professionally and efficiently
Reconcile vendor account discrepancies

Qualifications

Previous accounting, bookkeeping, accounts payable, or accounts receivable experience preferred
Strong attention to detail and accuracy
Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Ability to prioritize, organize, and complete tasks with minimal supervision
Professional customer service mindset
Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel, preferred
ERP system experience preferred; Deltek experience is a plus but not required

Work Environment

Preferred schedule is 5 days per week in-office to support collaboration and client service
Potential flexibility for 1 remote workday per week based on business needs and management approval
