Full Job Description

Job Summary
We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate PACU (Post-Anesthesia Care Unit) Nurse to join our dynamic healthcare team. In this vital role, you will provide expert post-operative care to patients recovering from surgery or anesthesia, ensuring their safety, comfort, and optimal recovery. Your expertise will help facilitate smooth transitions from the operating room to the next phase of care, supporting patient well-being through attentive assessment and intervention. This position offers an exciting opportunity to work in a fast-paced, multidisciplinary environment where your skills in critical care, patient assessment, and advanced nursing procedures will make a meaningful difference.

Duties

Monitor and assess patients’ vital signs, airway status, and overall condition during recovery from anesthesia
Administer medications, including IV infusions and pain management therapies, following strict protocols and physician orders
Manage airway equipment such as ventilators and ensure proper aseptic technique during procedures like suturing or tube feeding
Respond promptly to emergent situations with advanced life support skills and coordinate with multidisciplinary teams for urgent interventions
Educate patients and their families about post-operative care instructions, discharge planning, and medication administration
Collaborate with surgical teams, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare professionals to optimize patient outcomes across specialties including Spine, orthopedics, podiatry, general surgery and pain medicine.

Requirements

Valid nursing license with current registration in the state of practice
Proven experience in critical care settings such as ICU, emergency room, or Level I/II trauma centers
Strong knowledge of physiology, anatomy, and medical terminology related to post-anesthesia recovery
Hands-on experience with IV insertion, medication administration, airway management including ventilator use, and aseptic techniques
Ability to perform physical examinations and vital signs assessment efficiently under pressure
Certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) required; additional certifications such as PALS or trauma medicine are advantageous
Excellent communication skills coupled with a compassionate approach to patient care in high-stakes environments
