Staff Accountant

Episcope Hospitality – Chicago, IL (on-site)

Job Details

Episcope Hospitality is one of the fastest growing hospitality companies in America. The company currently operates in Chicago, New York, Phoenix and Northern Virginia, and it will soon open additional locations in Boston and Los Angeles. Episcope offers a unique laboratory environment that encourages learning, ongoing development, and close collaboration with some of the top minds in business, food, beverage and design.

We are looking for a Staff Accountant who will support the accounting operations of a multi-unit hospitality restaurant group. Reporting to the Controller, this role will ensure accurate financial reporting, maintain general ledger integrity, support month-end close, and assist with operational accounting across multiple restaurant locations. The ideal candidate thrives in a fast-paced, high-volume hospitality environment and has strong attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and post journal entries
Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts
Perform monthly bank and credit card reconciliations
Reconcile daily sales reports and POS systems across multiple restaurant locations
Review and analyze location-level P&Ls for accuracy and variances
Assist operations managers with financial reporting questions
Review/code invoices and ensure proper expense allocation
Prepare and file city/state monthly sales tax returns
Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes
Prepare supporting schedules and documentation
Ensure deadlines are met for timely financial reporting

About You

Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
2-4 years of accounting experience (restaurant, hospitality, or multi-unit retail preferred)
Experience with accounting software (e.g. Quickbooks Online, Restaurant365, NetSuite, Sage, etc.)
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
Strong organizational skills and attention to detail
Ability to manage multiple locations and deadlines simultaneously
