Council Overview
With offices and camps in Farmingdale, Toms River and Waretown, Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore serves approximately 12,000 girls and adults in Monmouth and Ocean counties. Position Summary:
The Girl Experience Manager (GEM) is responsible for developing and implementing programming with the goal of growing youth of courage, confidence, and character and to create future leaders. The GEM plans and implements badge and other skill-based programs and large-scale events highlighting the Girl Scout Leadership Program to support the needs of current members and to recruit new members to the organization. The GEM works collaboratively within the program and outdoor/camp department and with other departments to ensure achievement of the goals of the Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore.
Essential Job Duties:
· Collaborates with the Girl Experience team to plan and implement robust programming offerings to support member retention & recruitment.
· Plans, implements, and assess large-scale, council-wide events with a focus on Life Skills and Entrepreneurship
· In conjunction with the outdoor/camp and program team, plan and implement enriching badge programs with a focus on grades K-5 and Juliettes.
· Coordinate cross departmentally to assess the resources of the community and the needs of youth to ensure access to programs which engage new members.
· Works with the marketing and communications team to effectively promote program opportunities to internal and external audiences through appropriate and timely requests.
· Adhere to budgets and post-event reports for assigned program activities.
· Ensure the measurement of outcomes to assist in quality improvement and effective marketing of the Girl Scout brand and its affiliates.
· Answers, problem-solves, manages and responds appropriately to all inquiries including but not limited to email, phone and walk-in customers and optimizes use of technology to support excellent customer service for members.
· Establish positive working relationships with staff in departments necessary to gather information to meet volunteer, donor, and other constituent requirements. Attend other meetings as appropriate with managers, directors, volunteers, etc. Works productively with a diverse group of people.
- Manages and supports Girl Scout Higher Awards and Higher Award committees/coaches to ensure volunteers have the resources, guidance, and support needed to successfully mentor girls through the award process.
- Supports outdoor/camp programming by maintaining current training and certifications in outdoor program elements, including zipline, archery, and climbing wall, and assists with the planning and delivery of these outdoor programs and experiences as needed.
· Maintains and updates records in salesforce in a timely manner
- Directs and manages On Demand Girl Scout program/experiences that support contemporary issues
- Supports council recruitment, retention and outreach initiatives by assisting in the creation of program opportunities to register new girls and retain current members
- Ensures that all program activities conform/comply to council policies, procedures and the health/safety management system; federal, state and local regulations and GSUSA policies
· Subscribes to tenets of the Girl Scout Promise and Law.
· Other related duties as requested.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
· 5+ years prior experience in nonprofits and youth programming; Spanish speaking a plus
· Enjoys working with girls
· Experience working with adult volunteers and girls
· Ability to function independently
· Ability to work on a team, relate and work well with others
· Self-starter, organized and able to prioritize work
· Ability to accept guidance, direction and supervision
· Business technology expertise - strong user computer skills in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, and Outlook. Must be able to learn, understand, and apply new technologies with ability to understand the basic data quality principles and practice

· Problem-Solving - identifies and analyzes existing and potential problems systematically and thoroughly; reports/documents the problem; obtains and evaluates relevant information and contributing factors; identifies important interrelationships; implements solutions after evaluating alternatives and anticipating their impact; supports decisions or recommendations with data and/or reasoning; defines and implements solutions to problems
· Public speaking; able to speak to groups between 10-250 + people
· Ability to lift, carry and transport at least 35 pounds.
· Be a registered member of the Girl Scouts of the Jersey Shore
· Valid New Jersey vehicle license, vehicle in working condition, proof of insurance, or the ability to fulfill timely and extensive travel requirements across council geography
· An ability to work flexible schedule including evenings and weekends
Compensation:
· Full Time Exempt Management Level Position; competitive salary range $47,000-$55,000; benefit package included.
