Full Job Description

Located in Temecula, Optiforms is a leading manufacturer of custom metal components and enhanced surface finishes for high precision applications. We specialize in electroformed and CNC machined components, as well as electrodeposited platings and vacuum deposition coatings. We serve various industries such as aerospace and defense, medical, UV and semiconductor, searchlights and industrial.

Position Summary

Optiforms is seeking a Technician to perform copper oxide blackening using Ebonol C or similar processes. This role supports precision metal finishing operations where cosmetic appearance, coating uniformity, and edge condition are critical. The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, quality-focused, and comfortable working under magnification in a controlled chemical processing environment.

Responsibilities

· Perform copper oxide blackening processes using Ebonol C per process specifications

· Prepare parts through cleaning, degreasing, rinsing, and surface activation

· Inspect parts under magnification for burrs, edge roll, surface defects, and cosmetic issues

· Deburr precision components under a microscope using hand tools, abrasives, or micro-deburring techniques

· Monitor and control bath chemistry (concentration, temperature, immersion time)

· Maintain accurate process documentation and lot traceability

· Follow all safety, environmental, and waste-handling procedures

· Perform routine maintenance on tanks, heaters, ventilation, and related equipment

· Collaborate with quality, engineering, and production to resolve finishing or deburring issues

Required Qualifications

· Education: high school diploma or equivalent

· Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident due to ITAR regulations

· Background in metal finishing, plating, or chemical processing

· Comfortable using microscopes, loupes, and fine hand tools

· Ability to read and follow work instructions, travelers, and specifications

· Strong attention to detail and workmanship

· Familiarity with chemical handling and PPE requirements

Preferred Qualifications

· Experience with Ebonol C copper oxide blackening or similar process

· Experience deburring small or precision parts under a microscope

· Experience with AMS, MIL, or customer-specific plating specifications

· Chemical lab testing or solution maintenance experience

Physical Requirements

· Ability to stand for extended periods

· Ability to sit and use a microscope for extended periods

· Ability to lift up to 50 lbs

· Comfortable working around chemicals, tanks, and wet environments (with PPE)

ITAR Requirements:

This position may include access to information that is subject to U.S. export controls. To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. § 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. § 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State.

Pay: $20.00 - $23.00 per hour
