Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Surger/Procedure Scheduler to join our healthcare team. The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational skills, excellent communication abilities, and a comprehensive understanding of medical office operations and medical terminology. As a Surgery Scheduler, you will be responsible for coordinating patient appointments such as pre-ops , managing provider schedules, and ensuring smooth administrative workflows within a busy clinical environment. This role offers an opportunity to contribute to high-quality patient care through efficient scheduling and administrative support.

Responsibilities

Schedule patient appointments accurately across multiple departments using electronic health record (EHR) systems such as Epic, Meditech, Athenahealth, and eClinicalWorks.
Verify insurance coverage and perform insurance verification as needed.
Manage appointment changes, cancellations, and follow-up scheduling in accordance with clinic protocols.
Review medical documentation for completeness and accuracy, ensuring compliance with HIPAA regulations.
Assist with patient demographics , including data entry, updating medical records, and facilitating communication between patients and healthcare providers.
Maintain organized medical records and ensure proper filing of electronic and paper documents in accordance with health information management standards.
Provide exceptional patient service by demonstrating professional phone etiquette, addressing inquiries promptly, and supporting front desk operations.
Collaborate with clinical staff to coordinate care plans and ensure timely delivery of services in a fast-paced healthcare setting.

Requirements

Proven experience in medical scheduling or administrative support within a healthcare environment; clinic office experience is highly desirable.
Familiarity with EMR systems such as Athenahealth, or similar platforms.
Strong computer skills as well as medical terminology desired.
Excellent organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple schedules efficiently while maintaining attention to detail.
Ability to communicate effectively with patients, providers, insurance companies, and team members; bilingual skills are a plus.
Understanding of HIPAA regulations related to patient privacy and data security.
