Lead Ballet Educator — Akron
Students ages 6 months–8 years | Part-Time, Year-Round | W2
Are you a Magic Maker? Welcome! ✨
Tutu School is a collection of boutique ballet studios serving families throughout Northeast Ohio. Our classes blend classical ballet foundations with storytelling, imagination, music, and play — thoughtfully designed for our youngest dancers.
We’re looking for an experienced, dynamic, creative, and reliable Lead Ballet Educator to join our Akron teaching team.
This is a great opportunity for a dance educator who already has strong classroom presence and experience working with young children — and who is looking for more than simply teaching a weekly ballet class.
At Tutu School, we believe that young children deserve excellent teachers, too. If you love dance, love children, and know how to create a classroom where both can thrive, we want to meet you!

ABOUT THE ROLE
At Tutu School, you’ll guide our youngest dancers — and often their caregivers — through a thoughtfully crafted curriculum that balances ballet technique, creative movement, imagination, and age-appropriate development.
Our Teachers are responsible not only for teaching beautiful, engaging classes, but also for creating a warm, organized, and consistent experience for every child and family who walks through our doors.
WHAT MAKES YOU A GREAT FIT
Our ideal Lead Ballet Educator:
- Has a strong background in ballet and/or dance education
- Has meaningful experience teaching or working with young children, ideally ages 1–8
- Is energetic, playful, confident, and comfortable leading a room of very young children
- Has excellent classroom management and redirection skills
- Is reliable, professional, and communicative — teammates and families can count on you
- Can balance structure and flexibility while following an established curriculum
- Understands that teaching young children requires both technical knowledge and genuine emotional connection
- Enjoys building caring relationships with students and families
- Is comfortable with customer service, retail, and representing the Tutu School brand
- Wants to be part of a professional teaching team and contribute beyond their individual class
Most importantly, you genuinely love working with little dancers. A strong dance background matters to us, but so does the ability to make a three-year-old feel confident, capable, and excited to come back next week.
PREFERRED EXPERIENCE
- Strong foundation in fundamental ballet technique and terminology
- Previous dance teaching experience
- Experience teaching children ages 6 months–8 years
- Familiarity with classroom management and child development
- Experience lesson planning and/or following an established curriculum
- Experience with creative movement, preschool education, musical theater, or similar disciplines is a plus
We're open to a variety of backgrounds, but for our current Akron opening, we are particularly seeking candidates who can bring both dance experience and strong skills working with young children.
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan and teach weekly ballet/creative movement classes within Tutu School curriculum guidelines
- Lead engaging classes with excellent classroom management
- Create a joyful, organized, and professional classroom environment

- Participate in twice-yearly recitals, including learning and leading simple choreography
- Participate in substitute teaching and occasional special events
- Communicate professionally and consistently with studio leadership and teammates
- Participate in ongoing teacher training and professional development
GROW WITH US
At Tutu School, we celebrate creativity, kindness, and professional growth. We care as much about mentoring our teachers as we do our students.
You’ll receive:
- Structured initial teacher training
- Ongoing curriculum resources and coaching
- Paid professional development and training opportunities
- A supportive, team-oriented teaching environment
- Opportunities for additional teaching and leadership responsibilities
- A clear opportunity to grow into expanded roles as your experience and contributions develop
We are building a teaching team for the long term — not simply filling a few classes.
SOUND LIKE YOU?
