Full Job Description

Duration & Schedule

Duration: At least 6 months from the projected start date
Hours: 40 hours per week
Shift: 8:00 AM – 4:00 PM

Roles & Responsibilities

Compile health information by reviewing, cataloging, and checking medical reports for completeness.
Organize and file medical reports in the appropriate patient records.
Review patient charts to ensure all required reports and signatures are present.
Prepare health information forms, including charts for new admissions.
Complete required forms and prepare requests for specific reports or certificates.
Compile and prepare statistical reports, including:
Daily and monthly census reports
Medicaid day reports
Admission and discharge reports
Length of stay reports
File reports into health information records and maintain filing systems.
Record information in logs and retrieve health information records as needed.
Provide authorized information from health records after verifying the appropriateness of requests.
Coordinate with other departments regarding health information record procedures.

Required Skills

Knowledge of:
Health Information Technology (HIT)
JCAH and Medicare/Medicaid medical record regulations
Patient confidentiality requirements
Medical terminology
Proficiency in using:
Word processors and/or typewriters
Calculators
Ability to:
Solve routine problems involving limited variables.
Write routine business correspondence, evaluations, and records following standard procedures.
Proofread medical reports and identify errors.
Recognize missing or incomplete medical record information.
Gather, organize, classify, and maintain healthcare data accurately.
