About the Position
JA is seeking organized and energetic associates to support the implementation of student field trips at our Education Center in Edison and offsite as needed. This role involves collaborating with the JA Education Team to assist with daily program operations and ensure that all experiences provide a high-quality, meaningful learning opportunity for students, volunteers, and educators.
This is a part-time temporary position with flexible scheduling from September 2026 to mid-June 2027, Monday-Friday, 8am – 2pm. Pay is $19.50 per hour.

Key Accountabilities
· Administrative Duties – Assist with scheduling, printing, distributing, organizing, and collecting all simulation-related materials and documents.
· Volunteer Support – Welcome volunteers, keep them on schedule, answer questions, and provide support before, during, and after the simulation as needed.
· Student Support – Support students throughout the simulation, help manage behavior, answer questions, and ensure students complete required tasks and stay engaged in the experience.
· Technology Support – Troubleshoot common technology issues used during the simulations and notify appropriate staff when additional support is needed.
· Volunteer Training – Assist with or conduct volunteer training to prepare volunteers for the simulation experience and review expectations, roles, and procedures.
· Student Safety and Security – Assist with the orderly unloading and loading of buses upon arrival and departure, escort students into secure areas, and verify student numbers during arrival and dismissal.
· Customer Service – Provide a high level of customer service to all visitors, including volunteers, teachers, middle school students, and others who enter the Education Center.
· Additional Duties / Facility Maintenance – Help maintain a clean, safe, and organized simulation environment by monitoring and cleaning shared areas, including restrooms used by students and volunteers during the program. Restock supplies and report any facility needs as needed. Perform other duties as assigned to support the success of the simulation and the overall operations of the Education Center.
Skills and Experience:
- Passion for working with students, educators, and volunteers from diverse backgrounds.
- High level of professionalism, strong communication and public speaking skills, comfortable using a microphone.
- Patience, adaptability, and comfortable working in a fast-paced, high-energy environment.
- Proficiency in customer service includes problem-solving, decision-making, and troubleshooting, Work to resolve routine and unexpected challenges.
- Demonstrate an understanding of JA's mission, vision, and overall strategies; align own activities with organization's goals and strategies.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to: sit, walk, occasionally required to reach with hands and arms, continually required to talk or hear, occasionally required to bend, lift, or climb, frequently required to lift and carry weights (up to 30 pounds), and specific vision abilities include: close vision, distance vision, and ability to adjust or focus.
