Full Job Description

Job Summary

We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated Domestic Violence Advocate / Case Manager to join our team. In this vital role, you will provide support, advocacy, and case management services to individuals and families affected by domestic violence. Your efforts will empower clients to navigate complex situations, access resources, and rebuild their lives in a safe and supportive environment. This position offers an opportunity to make a meaningful difference in high-risk populations by delivering culturally sensitive, trauma-informed care with a focus on child and family welfare. The ideal candidate will possess strong communication skills, crisis intervention expertise, and a passion for social services that promote safety, stability, and empowerment.

Responsibilities

Uphold strict confidentiality regarding all client and agency information.
Provide client intake and advocacy, and conduct safety and risk assessment with each client.
Provide 24-hour hotline services, Lethality Assessment Program (LAP) and Safe Connect for referrals and intakes.
Complete initial case management interviews with each individual and family.
Collaborate with clients to set both short and long-term goals, along with a reasonable and achievable timeline for meeting those goals or the steps required to reach them.
Develop service intervention plans in conjunction with clients and their families.
Conduct regular case management sessions to monitor progress, identify obstacles and barriers, and/or necessary modifications to service intervention plans.
Collaborate and coordinate services within and outside Safe Futures.
Support clients in creating comprehensive safety plans tailored to their specific circumstances, including strategies for staying, leaving, long-term planning, and, when applicable, plans that consider the safety and well-being of their children.
Provide or coordinate transportation for clients in crisis, such as to a train station or other safe location.
Provide Victim Compensation information and assistance in filing compensation forms to clients.
Provide Address Confidentiality, Safe at Home process and application.
Implement and ensure compliance with all Safe Futures, Genesis House and counseling policies and procedures.
Participate in case review and other quality assurance and interdepartmental initiatives.
Provide support to all program staff to complete program reports,as required.
Promote a spirit of sensitivity, cooperation, and trust within the emergency shelter and Safe Futures as a whole.
Perform necessary shift duties such as reading and writing daily log notes, balancing petty cash and cleaning rooms.
Participate in outreach, public relations, fundraising, or agency collaborative activities, as required.
Complete necessary paperwork, including daily case notes, maintaining case files and data entry in EmpowerDB.
Assist in monthly and quarterly report documentation as needed.
Flexibility to work weekends and holidays and be subject-to-call when deemed necessary.
Other duties as assigned.

Experience

Bachelor’s degree in a related field or demonstrated years of experience in the field.
Ability to demonstrate respect, sensitivity and maintain client confidentiality.
Understanding of domestic violence and its effects on adult and child victims.
Commitment to working with domestic violence victims to develop a plan for their safety and preserve their right to self-determination.
Knowledge of best practices in trauma informed services.
Basic crisis intervention, conflict resolution and advocacy skills.
Basic knowledge of mental health disorders and substance abuse.
Ability to work effectively with a diverse range of clients.
Demonstration of strong writing, leadership, and organizational skills.
Ability to collaborate effectively with organizations and community partners.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and familiarity with databases.
Valid driver’s license and reliable, insured transportation.
Ability to become domestic violence and CPR/First Aid Certified and maintain annual re-certification.
