HOUSEHOLD MANAGER / PERSONAL ASSISTANT

Seeking a Household Manager / Personal Assistant to provide essential support to the Executive Director. A successful candidate will ideally have prior experience as a household manager or an assistant, but current college students will also be considered. The candidate must be a trustworthy, friendly, self-motivated, organized team player with excellent time management skills to anticipate and manage the needs of the supervisor & a genuine desire to help.

This position will work primarily in the supervisor’s home in Olney MD, and occasionally our Rockville MD office or on site with your supervisor. This position will have flexible hours to suit the schedule of both the assistant and the executive, and can range in commitment with an average of 20-30 hours per week. A few evening hours and/or weekend hours are preferred for teen activities and pet care. The most successful candidate for this role is one that is generally available and flexible for simple but time sensitive requests as they come up, as opposed to someone that prefers a rigid schedule. The specific responsibilities of the role are flexible and could shift to accommodate the strengths of a given candidate. The personal assistant currently in this role is leaving for career growth in her chosen field and is happy to discuss the position with prospective candidates.

Requirements

Friendly, warm, and helpful personality with excellent communication skills
High level of discretion, confidentiality and integrity; must have excellent personal references.
1-2 years experience in a Household Manager or Personal Assistant Role or currently enrolled in a degree program
Highly detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills & the ability to anticipate the needs of your supervisor
Self-motivated with the ability to work in a home environment with teens present
Polished demeanor, energetic and positive
Strong attention to detail, forward thinking, highly organized with the ability to multitask
Knowledge of smart home devices, wifi, printers, etc. is a major plus
Must have a driver’s license and a reliable personal vehicle

Responsibilities can be adjusted to match applicant’s personal strengths from the following:

Manage household electronics, printers, WiFi, Sonos, etc.
Arrange and oversee household services / repairs
Simple lawn care such as watering
Keeping patio area neat and clean (leaf blowing, power washing); jacuzzi maintenance
Supervise and track homework completion and submission for 1 teenager
Drive teenagers to activities (a few evening hours 1-2x per week are preferred for this)
Pet care when the supervisor is traveling (1 cat); can also be sourced out
Facilitate positive & healthy habits to improve work life balance
Help with personal tasks and errands such as package returns, car service, prescriptions
Schedule appointments, manage personal calendar
Meal & ingredient prep if this is an area of strength for you
Facilitate home organization within an already organized environment
Manage medical insurance claims, school forms & other necessary forms
