Full Job Description

Memorial Community Hospital and Health System (MCH) is seeking a dependable and detail-oriented Cook to join our Dietary Services team. Under the direction of the Dietary Manager, the Cook prepares meals for regular and modified patient diets, staff meals, meals-to-go, and occasional catered events. This position supports a clean, organized, and compliant kitchen environment and plays an active role in the hospital’s overall mission.

What you’ll do:

Shift Details: This position offers a consistent daytime schedule, working five days per week. Weekend shifts are part of a shared rotation.
Prepare meals according to standardized recipes and dietary requirements
Support food service for patients, staff, and catered functions
Maintain clean and sanitized work areas and equipment
Follow department safety protocols and food safety regulations
Assist in maintaining standards for state inspections
Uphold attendance standards and department expectations
Contribute to performance improvement and patient satisfaction initiatives
Participate in required safety and training programs

Qualifications:

High school diploma or GED preferred
At least 3 months of food service experience preferred

Skills and Abilities:

Ability to follow standardized recipes and measure ingredients accurately
Ability to lift and transfer hot food items up to 50 lbs
Basic math skills including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division
Ability to read and comprehend menus, diet orders, and written instructions
Ability to perform physical tasks such as bending, stooping, pushing, and pulling
Capable of calculating adjustments for special diets and food quantities
