Full Job Description

NATURE AND SCOPE:

As a member of the Marketing and Communications Department, the Digital Communications Manager is responsible for key digital communication activities for the Museum, including social media, website, and email marketing. This position supports cross-functional teams within the Museum and ensures continuity in brand and messaging across mediums and disciplines. The Digital Communications Manager works collaboratively with the Senior Marketing and Brand Manager and is responsible for creating and overseeing content calendars for the organization, ensuring content is up to date, on-brand, and relevant. The Digital Communications Manager works to increase web traffic, email effectiveness, and social media audience engagement and growth.

RESPONSIBILITES:

Social Media:

Work to build an engaging and trusted social media presence that supports organizational goals.
Concept and create content for the Museum’s social media channels.
Establish and maintain content calendars to ensure key events and programs are well promoted.
Research, write, and create meaningful content that is timely and relevant to target audiences.
Coordinate with internal sources or subject matter experts to gather information needed for content/communication creation.
Use creativity and imagination to build compelling narratives and write original and engaging content for Museum channels.
Ensure the Museum’s social media channels are responsive, innovative, collaborative, and engaging. Facilitate social media interactions and updates during live and online events.
Stay informed on emerging online communication tools, social media trends, and best practices.
Create and implement strategies to increase the number of fans/followers and to increase audience engagement on social media platforms.
As needed, evaluate efforts and advise when social channels should be retired and/or when new channels should be explored.
Track performance data and regularly report to relevant staff.

Website

Publish, edit, and update website pages using WordPress CMS.
Ensure Museum website content and online postings are accurate and up to date.
Ensure quality of web pages by copy editing, proofreading, and maintaining consistent format, style, and brand voice.
Monitor analytics and make recommendations for improved performance.

Email Marketing:

Coordinate, edit, build, and distribute bi-weekly e-communications to promote Museum programs and initiatives, including newsletters, alerts, and event promotions.
Perform routine maintenance and cleanup of email list.

Other:

Show strong creative discernment and good discipline around editing of ideas and copy.
Assist in crafting and writing meaningful content for auxiliary marketing communications.
Film and edit video. Capture photographs for digital communication materials and Museum needs.
Meet or exceed deadlines/timelines and production calendars for marketing communications.
Work with the Director of Marketing and PR in execution of department goals.
Support the Museum’s overall strategies and operational activities within the Marketing and Communications Department.
Participate in all mandatory training and safety programs required and provided by the Museum.
All other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, or related field. Relevant work experience will be considered.
2-3 years of prior marketing and/or digital communications experience.
Effective in a creative and collaborative environment.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
Highly developed organizational skills with demonstrated ability to prioritize tasks and manage workflow for efficient operations.
Strong attention to detail.
Hands-on knowledge using major social media platforms (Facebook, X, YouTube, Instagram, LinkedIn) in a professional setting.
Basic technical knowledge of HTML and web/email publishing.
Knowledge of SEO, web traffic metrics, and email analytics.

WORKING CONDITIONS:

Full-time, exempt position scheduled to work Monday through Friday and during select special events.
Monitoring of Museum social media channels after Museum hours.
Routine periods of sitting, standing, and walking are required.

Pay: From $55,000.00 per year
