Full Job Description

Local underground utility contractor seeking experienced, hard working pipe layer helper for underground water and sewer installation. Applicants are required to pass a pre-employment drug screen, have a valid driver’s license and transportation to job sites in the Omaha and surrounding area. Applicants must work well with others and be familiar with OSHA safety protocols. General knowledge of construction tools, equipment and concrete work a plus. Work days are Monday thru Friday 7am -5:30pm and some Saturdays, as needed. Hours are not guaranteed and may be subject to weather. There is a possibility of a temporary layoff in winter. Competitive wages based on experience. Pipelayer – Job Description/Duties

1. Responsible for assisting in completion of projects while following all company and safety policies.

2. Responsible for setting stringline, stringing pipe, grouting manholes, and tarring products as needed.

3. Continuous monitoring of job site to maintain a safe work area by following OSHA safety protocol for employees inside and outside trenches including the surrounding area.

4. Maintain communication with all crew members and foreman for proper installation of product, as well as, the safety of others.

5. Ability to understand and read grade stakes.

6. Ability to anticipate project needs and place material and/or tools appropriately to keep crew moving without delay.

7. Ability to prepare tools, as well as, safely and efficiently use tools necessary such as lasers, locators, shovel, forms, ladders, saws, hammers, etc.

8. Responsible for care of job site tools, as well as, putting tools and supplies away at the end of the work day.

9. Ability to follow instructions and retain prior learning.

10. All other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

1. Must be available to work Monday thru Friday 7:00 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. and Saturday’s 7:00 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. Occasional after hours required for water main breaks, snow removal or other utility emergencies. *Hours are not guaranteed and may be subject to weather*

2. Must have valid driver’s license and transportation to/from jobsites.

3. Must be able to lift +/-50 lbs to/from ground level to truck level.

4. Must be able to sit/stand for long periods of time.

5. Ability to climb in and out of trench repeatedly.

6. Ability to rotate upper body/head to check surroundings.

7. Must be able to read a tape measure.

8. Must be able to read and speak English.

9. Must understand and follow OSHA safety regulations.

10. Ability to work well and safely with others.
