Full Job Description

Star Railroad is hiring Stick Welders and experienced Railcar Repairmen/Carmen at our Green Cove Springs facility.

Railcar experience is NOT required if you are a strong Stick/SMAW welder with good fabrication and torch skills. We will train the right person.

PAY

$22–$25/hour – Experienced Welder / Railcar Trainee
For candidates with strong Stick/SMAW welding, fabrication, and oxy-fuel torch skills but limited or no railcar experience.

$26–$30/hour – Experienced Railcar Repairman / Carman
For candidates with proven freight railcar repair experience and knowledge of FRA/AAR requirements who can perform railcar repairs with minimal training.

Starting pay is based on experience, railcar knowledge, and performance on our hands-on welding and cutting test.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Stick/SMAW welding and fabrication
Oxy-fuel torch cutting and washing/removing welds
Structural and railcar body repairs
Coupler and draft-system repairs
Brake and air-system repairs
Safety-appliance repairs
Truck and wheel component work
Inspect railcars and identify defects
Complete repairs in accordance with FRA/AAR requirements

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

Strong Stick/SMAW welding skills
Experience welding vertical and horizontal
Ability to weld thin, weathered, and rusted steel
Strong oxy-fuel torch cutting skills
Fabrication experience
Dependable and able to work efficiently
Comfortable working outdoors in Florida weather
Able to perform physically demanding work

This is NOT a MIG-only welding position.

All welding candidates must pass a hands-on Stick welding and torch-cutting test before hire.

Previous railcar experience is a major plus, but we are willing to train an experienced welder who has the right skills and work ethic.

Monday–Thursday | Full-Time | 4-Day Workweek
