Job Summary
We are seeking a dynamic and detail-oriented Logistics and Import/Export Operations Specialist to optimize our global supply chain activities. In this role, you will coordinate end-to-end logistics processes of import and export procedures, and ensure seamless transportation and distribution of goods. Your expertise will drive efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance overall operational performance in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities
- Generate air and ocean bills of lading and supporting export shipment documentation to ensure freight can be processed and efficiently exported.
- Contact trucking companies to arrange for pickup of customer’s freight. Contact air and ocean carriers to book export shipments and close consolidations.
- Review procedures and implement TSA safety regulations as developed by the Head Office.
- Arrange for import documentation pickup at the airlines. Review immediate Transport documents for US Customs and relay arrival information.
- Contact outside Customs Brokers to coordinate that import freight is cleared in a timely manner.
- Correspond with NNR Japan and other overseas agents.
- Provide internal and external customers with quotations and generate proposals for the sales staff.
- Contact present customers who have not shipped regularly to determine shipping status.
- Contact customers following sales to ensure ongoing customer satisfaction, provide flight details, maintain and review letters of credit and resolve any complaints. Assist with the collection of customer accounts.
- Complete light warehouse work including operating a forklift.
- Receive freight in warehouse and perform TSA safety checks. Prepare and label freight for export.
- Responsible for devanning and loading sea freight containers, building of pallets and ULD’s including Main Deck Pallets if applicable.
- Maintain client inventory, on hand notices and handle pick & pack as determined by 3PL customer requirements.
- Perform other duties as requested by management.
QUALIFICATION STANDARDS
Education & Experience:
- Minimum requirement High School diploma or GED.
- Familiar with international freight forwarding operations both Air and Ocean.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
- Ability to operate forklifts or other warehouse equipment; relevant certifications preferred. Successfully passed TSA training.
- Certified to handle Dangerous Goods when receiving, storing, handling, or releasing freight.
- Basic math skills to calculate freight, storage, duty and other charges.
- Effective communication skills for coordinating with suppliers, carriers, internal teams, and external partners.
Physical requirements:
- Flexible and long hours sometimes required.
- Medium/Heavy work - Exerting up to 65 pounds of force occasionally, frequently and/or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
