About El Centro NW

El Centro NW is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting and strengthening the Hispanic/Latino community in Clatsop County, Oregon, and Pacific County, Washington. Through our programs, services, cultural activities, and community partnerships, we work to create opportunities, promote inclusion, and strengthen the well-being and participation of our community.

We are seeking a bilingual and bicultural Executive Director who is passionate about community service and has the leadership, organizational, and interpersonal skills needed to guide our organization into its next chapter.

Job Summary

The Executive Director is responsible for the overall leadership, administration, and day-to-day operations of El Centro NW. This includes overseeing programs and services, supervising staff, managing grants and grant reporting, supporting fundraising efforts, building community partnerships, and ensuring that the organization remains focused on its mission and strategic goals.

The Executive Director works under the direction and supervision of the Board of Directors and is responsible for maintaining a strong, collaborative, and transparent relationship with the Board.

The ideal candidate will bring together strong leadership and management skills, cultural awareness, excellent communication, and a genuine commitment to serving the Hispanic/Latino community.

Key Responsibilities

Organizational Leadership & Administration

Lead and manage the day-to-day operations of El Centro NW in accordance with the organization's mission, values, policies, and goals established by the Board of Directors.
Implement decisions and priorities established by the Board.
Work collaboratively with the Board on strategic planning and the organization's long-term development.
Maintain regular and effective communication with the Board, providing updates regarding programs, staffing, finances, opportunities, challenges, and organizational needs.
Prepare regular reports and information for Board meetings and support the Board in fulfilling its governance responsibilities.
Represent El Centro NW with community organizations, government agencies, schools, foundations, donors, partners, and other stakeholders.

Programs & Services

Oversee all El Centro NW programs and services, ensuring they are effectively implemented and aligned with the organization's mission and goals.
Monitor program outcomes, timelines, budgets, and grant requirements.
Work with staff and the Board to evaluate existing programs and identify opportunities for growth and improvement.
Assess community needs and help develop programs and services that respond to those needs.
Ensure that program activities and services are delivered in a professional, culturally responsive, and effective manner.

Staff Leadership & Supervision

Supervise, support, and evaluate El Centro NW staff.
Lead recruitment, hiring, onboarding, training, performance management, and termination of employees in accordance with organizational policies and applicable laws.
Foster a professional, respectful, inclusive, and collaborative workplace.
Establish clear expectations and promote effective communication and teamwork among staff.
Address personnel concerns and workplace issues fairly, professionally, and consistently.

Grants & Fund Development

Identify grant and funding opportunities aligned with the mission and programs of El Centro NW.
Research, write, and submit grant proposals and other funding applications.
Manage awarded grants and ensure compliance with funder requirements, budgets, timelines, and deliverables.
Prepare and submit narrative, financial, and other required grant reports.
Develop and maintain positive relationships with foundations, government agencies, donors, and other funding partners.
Work with the Board to strengthen fundraising strategies and the organization's long-term financial sustainability.

Community Relations & Representation

Serve as a primary public representative of El Centro NW.
Build and maintain strong relationships with community members, nonprofit organizations, schools, government agencies, businesses, funders, and other community partners.
Promote the mission, programs, and accomplishments of El Centro NW throughout the community.
Attend and represent El Centro NW at community meetings, events, and other public activities.
Help increase the organization's visibility, partnerships, and impact within the community.

Mission & Strategic Direction

Keep the mission and values of El Centro NW at the center of organizational decision-making and operations.
Work closely with the Board of Directors to implement strategic priorities and strengthen the organization's future.
Ensure that programs and services continue to reflect the needs and priorities of the community.
Help cultivate a strong organizational culture grounded in respect, collaboration, accountability, and service.

Required Qualifications

Professional fluency in both Spanish and English, written and spoken.
Strong understanding of and connection to Hispanic/Latino culture and communities.
Demonstrated experience in leadership, nonprofit management, program management, staff supervision, or a related field.
Experience managing multiple responsibilities, programs, or projects simultaneously.
Experience writing grants, managing grant-funded programs, and/or preparing grant reports.
Strong written, verbal, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
Ability to work independently while also working collaboratively with a Board of Directors, staff, volunteers, and community partners.
Strong problem-solving and decision-making skills.
Commitment to community service, equity, inclusion, and the mission of El Centro NW.

Preferred Qualifications

Previous experience working in a nonprofit organization.
Previous experience as an Executive Director, Program Director, Operations Director, Manager, or in a similar leadership role.
Experience managing multiple community programs and services.
Experience with fundraising and donor development.
Experience developing relationships with foundations, government agencies, and community partners.
Knowledge of resources and services available to Hispanic/Latino and immigrant communities.
Experience working with a nonprofit Board of Directors.
Bachelor's degree in nonprofit management, business administration, public administration, social work, community development, Latin American studies, or a related field—or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Compensation

Salary: $75,000–$90,000 per year, depending on experience, education, and qualifications.
