Overview
Froelich Engineers, Inc. is seeking a full-time, in-person civil project engineer or civil designer for our Portland office location.

Froelich Engineers is a prominent structural and civil engineering firm with offices in Portland, Bend, and Denver. As a Civil Designer or Civil Project Engineer, you will play a key role in the planning and design of site development projects. You will work under the supervision of licensed professional engineers while gaining hands-on experience in grading, stormwater management, utilities, and site layout. This is an excellent opportunity for proficient engineers seeking to develop their skills and knowledge in a dynamic, supportive environment.

Duties

Lead civil site design for commercial, residential, and mixed-use development projects from schematic design through construction documents
Prepare and oversee grading, drainage, stormwater management, and utility design calculations and plan production
Design stormwater systems including detention, conveyance, water quality, and infiltration facilities in accordance with local jurisdictional standards
Design and coordinate water, sanitary sewer, and storm utility systems, including utility relocations and public improvements when required
Develop and review civil construction documents using AutoCAD Civil 3D
Perform hydrologic and hydraulic analyses and prepare supporting technical documentation
Coordinate directly with architects, structural engineers, landscape architects, surveyors, geotechnical engineers, and public agencies
Prepare permit submittals and lead responses to jurisdictional review comments
Attend and participate in client meetings, agency meetings, and internal coordination meetings
Support construction administration, including responding to RFIs, reviewing submittals, and performing site visits
Mentor junior designers and support internal quality control processes

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering (required)
Experience working in Oregon/Washington (preferred)
Civil site design experience (commercial and/or residential development preferred)
EI or PE license
Demonstrated experience in grading design, stormwater management, and utility coordination
Proficiency in AutoCAD Civil 3D
Experience working with local jurisdictional standards and permitting processes
Strong technical writing and communication skills
Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines with limited oversight
Collaborative, team-oriented mindset with leadership potential

Pay: $75,000.00 - $110,000.00 per year
