Position: Vice President of Business Development Team

Salary Range: Open Vacation: As per Staff Manual

Selection Procedure:

The selection process shall consist of an oral interview weighed 50 percent and evaluation of educational, work-related, and training experience weighed 50 percent.

Super Thrift isn’t just a thrift store; it’s part of the life-changing work of Adult and Teen Challenge. Every day, over 75 students gain hands-on job experience in our stores, learning valuable skills for their future. Store revenue also directly supports Adult and Teen Challenge’s recovery programs, funding nearly half of their operations. General Statement of Duties & Responsibilities:

1. To provide direction and oversight of all Thrift Stores

2. To ensure the financial viability of all Thrift Stores

3. To grow the number of store locations

The employee shall exercise a high degree of independent decision making and judgment in relation to the scope of duties and responsibilities.

Supervision Received:

Reports directly, and are responsible to the Corporate Operating Officer;

Supervision Exercised:

Provides direction and oversight of all Thrift Stores.

Examples of, but not limited to the following principle duties:

Thrift Store Operations & Leadership

Maintain a thorough working knowledge of all program policies and procedures relevant to the assigned scope of duties and responsibilities, including the Teen Challenge Program Policies and Procedures Manual.
Maintain good standards of personal hygiene and a clean, neat, and professional appearance consistent with organizational standards.
Provide oversight and support for all Thrift Store operations.
Work with Executive/Center Directors and Store Managers to ensure sound leadership practices consistent with ATCPW’s purpose, values, mission, and DNA.
Work with the HR Coordinator on all personnel and policy actions to ensure compliance with ATCPW policies and procedures.
Visit stores and work with Executive/Center Directors and Store Managers to develop and implement plans to improve merchandising and product displays to meet sales objectives.
Oversee training of Store Managers and staff in retail operations, including merchandise orders, cash control, inventory, banking, cash register procedures, customer service, displays, and efficient material handling.
Ensure compliance with ATCPW policies, procedures, and safety standards throughout areas supervised, including OSHA and other regulatory requirements.
Work with Executive/Center Directors and Store Managers to consistently incorporate safety, loss prevention, and risk management principles into daily operations and ensure participation in ATCPW safety programs.
Ensure tools and equipment are maintained in good working order and that staff and interns are properly trained in their safe use.
Consistently maintain acceptable levels of productivity across Thrift Store operations.
Work with Store Managers to manage and reduce turnover and absenteeism.
Develop strategies for the expansion of current Thrift Store operations and implement approved plans in coordination with the COO.
Work with the CFO to oversee all real estate agreements and leases for Thrift Stores.
Work with the COO to develop and guide the strategic direction of Thrift Stores, develop tactical plans, and assist in the overall leadership of Thrift Stores.
Work collaboratively with the COO to achieve overall organizational goals.

Ensure Financial viability of Stores

Ensure Financial Viability of Stores

a. Responsible for providing oversight of all financial decision-making concerning Thrift Stores.
b. Work with COO, Directors, and Store Managers to prepare and operate within annual operating and capital budgets for each store.
c. Participate in reviews of monthly financial performance and develop improvement plans.
d. Supervise Store Managers to achieve budgeted revenue for each quarter.
e. Work with Store Managers to set stretch goals for the team.
f. Provide coaching and tools to help Executive/Center Directors and Store Managers meet financial targets (consider external consulting if needed).
g. Develop a marketing and communication strategy for thrift stores.
h. Promote a favorable image in the community and work cooperatively with all organization employees, participants, customers, and other persons.
i. Safeguard company property, including donated goods. Report any incident of theft, fraud, waste, or unauthorized possession of company property to the COO.
j. Maintain consistent, visible, and positive leadership presence at all store locations.

Grow Thrift Store locations

a. Participate in strategic planning processes on a quarterly basis.
b. Conduct location feasibility studies, prepare budgets, coordinate staffing, and oversee the opening of new retail and operations locations.
c. Submit a business plan for each new store.
d. Advise and keep the COO current on all issues related to new ventures.
e. Secure capital funding for at least one new store annually.

Recruiting Requirements - Knowledge, Skills, and Ability:

Considerable knowledge in computer proficiency is required for this position. The astute ability to communicate to the Center/Executive Directors, ATCPW Staff, and the community at large both verbally and the written word is a must for this position. Emotional maturity, professional objectivity, and the Page 2 of 3 Job Description – Vice President of Business Development TS1001ability to act, as a Christian in the Adult & Teen Challenge ministry and the community at large must be held in the highest regard as you represent Adult & Teen Challenge and is critical for this position.

Experience and Training:

1. A four (4) year degree in business management is preferred and

2. Five (5) years of progressive business management (thrift/resale retail experience is preferred).

3. Demonstrate competency to effectively interact, work with, and supervise staff and students.

4. Experience and training in retail business management and sales.

Compensation

This role includes a base salary plus a quarterly bonus opportunity. The bonus is awarded in addition to the base salary and is based on achieving established internal performance metrics and expectations.
