Magruder Laser Vision specializes in laser vision correction, including  Modern Cataract Surgery, LASIK, SMILE®, Custom Lens Replacement, PRK, EVO® ICL, and the Light Adjustable Lens™ from RxSight®.

ISO: A Full-Time energetic, reliable individual to join our team as an Ophthalmic Technician. The successful candidate will be responsible for gathering important patient medical history and performing visual screening and diagnostic testing before the doctor visits with the patient. The technician will ensure that exam rooms are cleaned between patients, including sanitizing equipment. Assist and facilitate smooth patient flow, along with working with Doctors to coordinate the patient flow.

Responsibilities

Captures ocular and systemic history and accurately records visual acuity
Performs essential diagnostic tests such as visual acuity, manual refraction, topography, basic manual lensometry (single vision, multifocal, and progressive lenses), tonometry, OCT, IOL Master, and visual field
Administer topical ophthalmic medication or oral medications under the direction of the Physician
Administers diagnostic tests
Assist with in-office procedures ensuring proper informed consent is obtained, set up and clean up room from procedures
Assists with patient education
Instructs the patient regarding testing procedures
Maintains cleanliness and keeps equipment in order within the exam rooms during the workday
May assist in providing training to other ophthalmic personnel as assigned
May function as a scribe for the ophthalmologist or optometrist
May assist with laser and ophthalmic procedures
Perform other tasks as required
Occasional travel between locations for support as needed

Strong ophthalmic knowledge
Ability to speak clearly and concisely
Exceptional customer service skills
Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees, and the public
Ability to exercise judgment, initiative, and possess problem-solving skills
Professional communication with internal and external contacts and patients
Attention to detail and accuracy in a fast-paced, multi-tasking environment is essential
Knowledge of proper grammar, spelling, and punctuation
