Full Job Description

The Operations Manager is responsible for scheduling and overseeing all day-to-day operational activities, with direct oversight of the Fabrication Department and Pump Repair Department. This role ensures that fabricated systems, pump repairs, and related services are completed safely, efficiently, on schedule, and in accordance with quality standards.

The Operations Manager will lead through department supervisors, drive operational consistency, improve processes, and ensure alignment between operations, engineering, and sales to support successful project execution and customer satisfaction.

Key Responsibilities
Operations Leadership & Oversight

Provide leadership and direction to the Fabrication and Pump Repair departments through their respective supervisors.
Establish clear performance expectations, production goals, and accountability foreach department.
Ensure effective communication and coordination between fabrication, repair, engineering, and sales.
Foster a culture of safety, quality, continuous improvement, and teamwork.
Quote pump rebuilds to end users/work with sales team to quote pump rebuilds
Oversee and schedule and building maintenance/repairs that are needed.
Oversee that all equipment including trucks/forklift/cranes etc. are maintained and inspected to MSHA/OSHA Standards Fabrication Department Oversight
Oversee fabrication activities including pump skids, piping assemblies, structural components, and custom-engineered systems.
Ensure fabrication schedules align with project timelines and customer commitments.
Monitor labor utilization, material usage, and rework to optimize efficiency and cost control.
Ensure compliance with drawings, specifications, and quality requirements.
Support continuous improvement in fabrication methods, layout, and workflow.

Pump Repair Department Oversight

Oversee pump inspection, teardown, repair, rebuild, testing activities, and quoting.
Ensure repairs meet OEM specifications, customer requirements, and performance standards.
Monitor turnaround times, workload balancing, and repair quality.
Ensure proper documentation of repair work, testing results, and job costing.
Support development of repair capabilities, tooling, and technician skills.

Safety, Quality & Compliance

Ensure compliance with all safety, environmental, and regulatory requirements.
Promote a strong safety culture and ensure supervisors enforce safe work practices.
Establish and maintain quality control procedures for fabrication and repair work.
Lead corrective actions for quality or safety issues.

Planning, Scheduling & Resources

Coordinate production planning and scheduling across both departments.
Ensure adequate staffing, equipment, tools, and materials are available to meet demand.
Work with purchasing and inventory to ensure timely availability of materials and parts.
Identify capacity constraints and recommend solutions to leadership.

Performance Management & Continuous Improvement

Track and report key operational metrics including safety, productivity, quality, delivery, and cost.
Drive continuous improvement initiatives focused on efficiency, standardization, and waste reduction.
Support supervisors with training, coaching, and development.
Participate in hiring, performance evaluations, and disciplinary actions as needed.

Financial & Business Support

Work with the Financial Manager to control operating costs and improve profitability.
Provide operational input for pricing, scheduling, and feasibility of projects and repair work.
Support capital planning for equipment, tooling, and facility improvements.

Qualifications Required

Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Operations Management, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
7+ years of experience in industrial operations, fabrication, repair, or manufacturing environments.
Proven experience managing supervisors and leading multi-department operations.
Strong understanding of fabrication processes and mechanical repair operations.
Experience with safety programs and quality systems.
Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.

Preferred

Experience in pump systems, fluid handling, or rotating equipment.
Familiarity with engineered-to-order or project-based operations.
Experience working closely with engineering and sales teams.
Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement experience.
