Full Job Description

Summary

The Tribal Grant Manager will oversee the full lifecycle of grant-funded programs and projects for Berry Creek Rancheria, ensuring strict compliance with federal, state, and private funding requirements. This position plays a critical role in securing, managing, and reporting on financial resources that support community initiatives, programs and development. The Grant Manager will collaborate with tribal departments to track grant expenditures, monitor project milestones, and prepare comprehensive financial and narrative reports for funding agencies. The ideal candidate brings a deep commitment to serving tribal communities, a detailed eye for compliance and budget accuracy, and the ability to navigate complex funding landscapes while honoring tribal sovereignty and cultural values.

Job Responsibilities

Research, identify and pursue new grant opportunities from federal, state, foundation and private sources that align with tribal community needs.
Draft grant proposals, including narrative descriptions, goals, objectives, and detailed project budgets.
Collaborate with tribal departments, leadership, and external partners to gather data, statistics, and support letters needed for competitive applications.
Monitor active grants to ensure all activities, expenditures, and outcomes align with grantor guidelines, state/federal regulations and tribal objectives.
Design and implement tracking tools to evaluate the effectiveness and impact of grant-funded programs against stated performance indicators.
Work with tribal leadership to identify funding priorities and develop long-term grant strategies that support tribal goals and community development initiatives.
Maintain organized grant files, tracking systems, and audit-ready documentation for all grant awards.
Establish and enforce standard operating procedures for tracking grant deliverables, and performance measures.
Track grant budgets, expenditures, and drawdowns in coordination with Accounting department to prevent overspending or underspending allocations.
Review grant-related purchase requisitions, expense reports, and invoices to ensure they are aligned with approved award budgets.
Prepare and submit accurate, timely financial and narrative reports to funding agencies.
Assist with internal and external grant audits.
Maintain a master calendar of grant deadlines, reporting schedules, and funding opportunity pipelines.
Serve as primary point of contact for grantors, auditors, and internal project managers regarding grant administration.
Provide reports on grant performance, upcoming deadlines and funding opportunities to tribal leadership.
Perform all other duties assigned.

Skills & Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Accounting, or related field preferred; equivalent professional experience in grant management may be substituted.
Minimum of 3-5 years of proven experience in grant writing, grant administration, or project management.
Experience working with Tribal Governments, Native American organizations, or Indigenous communities preferred.
Strong financial management with the ability to handle complex budgets, review financial reports, track expenditures and analyze financial data.
Advanced computer literacy, including proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and grant management or accounting software.
Excellent organizational, analytical and time management skills
Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Solid understanding of tribal culture, sovereignty, governance structures and community values

Physical Demands

Standard office environment requiring sitting for extended periods of time.
Occasional standing, walking, bending and reaching.
Ability to lift, carry and move up to twenty (20) pounds.
Sufficient vision required to read computer screens.

Special Requirements:

Possession of an appropriate valid California Driver’s License.
Preference will be given to qualified Native American Indians under the Federal Indian Preference Act (43 CFR, 17.3(d)). Applicants claiming Indian preference must submit verification of Indian Heritage, Certified by the Tribe of affiliation, or other acceptable documentation.
Applicant must submit to and pass a pre-employment drug test and background check.

Pay: $75,000.00 - $90,000.00 per year
