Full Job Description

We are looking for a knowledgeable and detail-oriented Payroll and Benefits Specialist to manage payroll processing and employee benefits administration across our dealership group. This role requires a high level of accuracy, discretion, and the ability to navigate complex payroll systems and multi-state compliance requirements. The ideal candidate brings proven payroll experience and a proactive approach to solving problems and supporting employees.

Responsibilities

Process bi-weekly or semi-monthly payroll accurately and on time for all employees across multiple dealership locations
Manage payroll deductions, garnishments, commissions, and variable pay components
Administer employee benefits programs including health insurance, 401(k), and other offerings
Coordinate open enrollment, new hire benefits setup, and life event changes
Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll tax regulations
Respond to employee payroll and benefits inquiries in a timely and professional manner
Maintain accurate payroll records and employee data in HRIS and payroll systems
Prepare payroll reports, journal entries, and reconciliations for accounting
Support annual processes including W-2 preparation, 401(k) audits, and ACA reporting
Identify and implement process improvements to enhance payroll efficiency

Qualifications

3+ years of payroll processing experience required; multi-state payroll experience preferred
Experience with payroll software (ADP, Paylocity, Paychex, or similar) required
Familiarity with benefits administration and open enrollment processes
Strong understanding of payroll tax compliance and wage and hour laws
High degree of accuracy and confidentiality when handling sensitive employee information
Excellent organizational and time management skills
Proficient in Microsoft Excel
Dealership payroll experience a plus
Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Accounting, HR, or Business preferred
