Full Job Description

Kansas City, MO | Direct Hire
Morgan Hunter is partnering with a large, nationally recognized organization to hire a Labor Relations Director. This highly visible leadership role will own labor relations strategy across a large, multi-location workforce and serve as a key resource to executive leadership, operations, HR, and legal teams. The ideal candidate brings significant labor relations experience and is comfortable building strong relationships with union leaders while navigating complex negotiations and labor matters.
Responsibilities

Serve as the go-to leader for union and labor relations across the organization’s national footprint
Take the lead on union negotiations and contract discussions, helping the business navigate agreements effectively
Work through grievances, arbitrations and other labor challenges, partnering with the right internal resources to reach resolution
Develop strong, proactive relationships with union leaders, field leadership and key business partners
Act as a trusted advisor to executives on labor trends, potential risks, compliance and overall strategy
Collaborate closely with Legal, HR, Payroll and Operations to make sure labor agreements are understood and consistently applied
Help establish the labor approach and build relationships as the company enters and grows in new markets
Coach and educate leaders so they are better equipped to handle union-related situations and employee issues
Maintain a visible presence in the field by visiting projects, attending industry and union meetings, and participating in negotiations across the country

Qualifications

10+ years of labor relations experience
Construction Experience
Recent experience supporting union environments strongly preferred
Strong knowledge of labor laws, grievances, arbitration, and contract compliance
Proven ability to build relationships with union representatives and senior business leaders
Strong negotiation, conflict resolution, and communication skills
Executive presence with the ability to influence across multiple levels of an organization
Experience supporting multiple markets, territories, or collective bargaining agreements preferred
Bachelor’s degree preferred;advanced degree or JD is a plus
Ability to travel nationwide as business needs require
