Weekend Requirements: N/A | Work Hours: 8:00 am - 5:00 pm | Status: Full Time - 1.0 FTE (80 hours per pay period) | Entity: Owensboro Health Regional Hospital | Department: Pulmonology OwensboroJob Summary:Coordinates the scheduling of surgeries and related procedures.Job Responsibilities:<ul><li>Schedules appointment times using computerized scheduling programs.</li><li>May communicate with physicians and other healthcare team members to ensure availability of facilities and staff.</li><li>Communicates with patients and/or their families to provide necessary pre-procedure instructions and/or to confirm appointments.</li><li>Performs insurance verification and/or pre-authorizations as necessary.</li><li>May be responsible for managing the referral work queue, entering patient demographic information, and scanning documents into an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system.</li><li>May correspond with referring providers and/or patients for reports, information exchange, scheduling, x-rays, and paperwork.</li><li>May provide administrative support for Physicians or Nurse Practitioners.</li></ul>Skills and Attributes:<ul><li>Requires critical thinking skills and decisive judgment.</li><li>Works under general supervision.</li><li>Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.</li><li>Applies more advanced skills and knowledge in the area of specialization.</li></ul>Position Requirements:Work Experience<ul><li>No experience required</li></ul>Education<ul><li>High school diploma, General Equivalency Diploma (GED) or higher preferred </li></ul>Licensure/Certification/Registration<ul><li>BLS - Certified as a Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider required within 90 days of employment in this position.</li></ul>Organizational Responsibilities: <ul><li>Supports Owensboro Health’s Mission, Vision, Core Commitments, and business interests.
