About Us

Channel Islands Aviation is one of the longest running affiliates of Cessna Aircraft Company in the country. We became a Cessna Pilot Center, Cessna Service Center and Single Engine Dealer in 1976. When Cessna started building single engine piston airplanes again in 1997, CIA was rebranded as a Cessna Sales Team Authorized Representative through 2011. To this day, CIA remains an active Cessna Pilot Center for flight training and Cessna Service Center for aircraft maintenance. Channel Islands Aviation has multiple FAA Certificates. We operate an executive charter business with our Part 135 Charter Certificate through CI Jets. We have a Part 145 Repair Station for maintenance and a Part 141 Approved Pilot School. These certificates and approvals make CIA unique as we are the only business at the Camarillo Airport to enjoy all these approvals under one roof.

The Position

The Aicraft Mechanic position will be reporting to the Director of Maintenance and will be responsible to perform required repairs, and preventative maintenance under the FAA Part 145 Repair Station in order to support the FAA Part 141 flight training aircraft. Additionally, Channel Islands primary customers consist of Textron Cessna/Beechcraft, Cirrus owners. This person is involved in the full life-cycle of maintenance including planning the maintenance scheduling and determining strategic priorities to maximize up time of the fleet, A&D research / compliance, parts research and ordering, troubleshooting, general wrench turning for things like tire / oil changes, 100 hr. and annual inspections, addressing pilot squawks, complete overhauls, maintaining aircraft logbooks and communicating as needed with front office staff to provide status updates / maintenance schedule updates so the aircraft availability schedule is as accurate as can be projected and changes as needed to reflect actual work time, parts lead times / delays, etc. MUST HAVE PREVIOUS AIRCRAFT MAINTENANCE EXPIERENCE AS AN AIRCRAFT MECHANIC.

Job Description – Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

Inspect, maintain, and repair aircraft in a FAR part 145 environment: in coordination with lead technicians and maintenance management as applicable.
Ensure the cleanliness of work areas.
Assist with the movement and marshalling of aircraft including towing.
Assist with all job duties assigned to aircraft detailing technicians when necessary.
Assist with maintenance and repair of ground support equipment when necessary.
Develop and maintain a cohesive and cooperative teamwork environment with all departments and employees.
Maintain knowledge of flight schedules and project statuses on a daily basis and ensure production schedules meet delivery dates.
Secure hangar, ramp, and aircraft at end of shift, when required.
Complete work orders, order aircraft parts, manage jobs with available billable time.
Ability to attend required training events on airframe, engines, and equipment.
Assist the Maintenance lead technicians and/or managers when required with additional duties.

As and aircraft technician you must be capable of the following:

Must be willing to work in an environment that is subject to changing climate conditions and moderate noise levels.
Must have problem solving and organizational skills.
Must be able to read and understand Company and Manufacturer Manuals.
Must be able to perform all line maintenance functions unsupervised at any time.
Must be able to lift and move items of 70 pounds or more on a regular basis.
Excellent communication and people skills.
Ability to bend and/or squat repeatedly and stand for long periods of time. Must be able to work in and around an aviation hangar, and have knowledge of airport rules, including ramp and aircraft movement areas
Working environment includes area of moving mechanical parts, equipment, and various chemicals and fumes
Physical activity may require entering confined spaces
