Full Job Description

The Human Resources Generalist is responsible for supporting all aspects of the

employee lifecycle, including recruitment, onboarding, employee relations, performance

management, benefits administration, compliance, training, and HR recordkeeping. This

position serves as a trusted resource for employees and managers while ensuring the

organization complies with federal, state, and local employment laws and company

policies.

The HR Generalist plays a key role in building a positive workplace culture, improving

employee engagement, and supporting operational excellence through effective human

resource practices.

Key Responsibilities

Recruitment & Staffing

 Manage the full-cycle recruitment process from job posting through onboarding.

 Screen resumes, conduct initial interviews, and coordinate hiring manager

interviews.

 Complete employment verifications, reference checks, and background

screenings.

 Prepare offer letters and coordinate new hire paperwork.

 Maintain applicant tracking and recruiting metrics.

Onboarding & Orientation

 Conduct new employee orientation.

 Ensure all required employment documentation is completed accurately.

 Coordinate onboarding schedules with department managers.

 Monitor and facilitate the completion of new hire training.

 Conduct 30-, 60-, and 90-day follow-up meetings with new employees.

Employee Relations

 Serve as the first point of contact for employee questions and concerns.

 Assist managers with coaching, counseling, and conflict resolution.

 Investigate employee complaints and workplace issues.

 Support employee engagement initiatives and recognition programs.

 Maintain confidentiality in all employee matters.

Performance Management

 Coordinate annual performance evaluations.

 Track employee goals and development plans.

 Assist managers with performance improvement plans (PIPs).

 Maintain performance documentation.

 Support succession planning initiatives.

Compliance & Policy Administration

 Ensure compliance with company policies and employment laws.

 Maintain employee personnel files and HR records.

 Administer I-9, E-Verify, and employment eligibility documentation.

 Track required certifications, licenses, and mandatory training.

 Assist with HR audits and regulatory reporting.

Benefits & Leave Administration

 Assist employees with benefit enrollment and changes.

 Administer leave programs, including FMLA, ADA accommodations, and other

company leave policies.

 Coordinate workers' compensation claims and return-to-work programs.

 Answer employee questions regarding benefits and HR policies.

Training & Development

 Coordinate employee training programs.

 Track completion of required compliance training.

 Identify training needs and recommend development opportunities.

 Support leadership development initiatives.

HR Administration

 Maintain accurate HRIS records.

 Prepare HR reports and workforce metrics.

 Assist with payroll-related changes and employee status updates.

 Process employee transfers, promotions, and separations.

 Participate in HR projects and continuous improvement initiatives.

Daily Responsibilities

 Conduct interviews and coordinate hiring activities.

 Process new hire and termination paperwork.

 Respond to employee HR questions.

 Update personnel records and HRIS.

 Monitor attendance and leave requests.

 Support managers with employee relations issues.

 Maintain compliance documentation.

 Generate HR reports and metrics.

 Conduct employee orientations.

 Assist with investigations and corrective action documentation.

Qualifications

Required

 Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related

field (or equivalent experience).

 3–5 years of Human Resources experience.

 Strong knowledge of employment laws and HR best practices.

 Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

 Strong organizational and time management skills.

 Proficiency with Microsoft Office and HRIS systems.

Preferred

 Professional HR certification (SHRM-CP, SHRM-SCP, PHR, or SPHR).

 Experience in healthcare, transportation, logistics, or EMS environments.

 Experience administering benefits and leave programs.

 Experience with employee investigations and conflict resolution.

 Knowledge of payroll systems.
