Full Job Description

About the Position

A well-established and growing industrial company is seeking an experienced Credit & Collections Administrator to join its accounting team. This position is responsible for managing customer credit, collections, and accounts receivable support while helping maintain strong customer relationships and healthy cash flow.

The ideal candidate is detail-oriented, analytical, professional, and comfortable communicating with customers, sales representatives, and internal accounting teams.

Key Responsibilities

Establish and maintain credit accounts for new and existing customers.
Review customer credit information and make informed credit recommendations.
Manage collection activities and negotiate payment arrangements on past-due accounts.
Enforce company credit policies and procedures.
Work closely with sales representatives to resolve customer credit and collection issues.
Maintain customer tax exemption certificates and related records.
Assist with daily accounts receivable functions, including cash application.
Serve as backup to the Accounts Receivable Coordinator as needed.
Reconcile Accounts Receivable balances with the General Ledger on a monthly basis.
Coordinate collection efforts with third-party collection agencies or legal counsel when appropriate.
Process vendor/customer payment offsets in collaboration with the Accounts Payable team.
Maintain accurate customer records and collection documentation.
Identify and recommend process improvements to increase efficiency and reduce outstanding receivables.
Perform other related duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Associate degree in Business, Accounting, Finance, or a related field required; Bachelor's degree preferred.
Minimum of 3 years of commercial credit and collections experience.
Minimum of 3 years of accounts receivable experience.
Strong proficiency with Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
Excellent communication, negotiation, and customer service skills.
Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
High attention to detail with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in manufacturing, industrial distribution, or a related industry.
Experience working with ERP systems.
Experience with reporting tools such as Crystal Reports.
