Payroll Specialist / Office Administrator

About us:

SBF Payroll - Coachella Valley Branch is a locally owned payroll company serving small businesses throughout the Coachella Valley and across California. We believe payroll should be accurate, personal, and stress-free. Unlike large national payroll companies, our clients work directly with the same person every time, allowing us to build lasting relationships and provide exceptional customer service.

We're looking for a dependable, detail-oriented professional who enjoys working with numbers, solving problems, and helping small business owners. This position is ideal for someone who takes pride in accuracy, enjoys learning, and wants to grow with a small company long-term.

What You'll Do:

Process weekly, bi-weekly, semi-monthly, and monthly payrolls
Review payroll information for accuracy before processing
Enter payroll data with speed and precision
Process direct deposits and payroll checks
Prepare and submit federal and state payroll tax payments
Prepare quarterly and annual payroll tax filings
Process new hire reporting and employee payroll changes
Maintain payroll records while ensuring strict confidentiality
Answer client phone calls, emails, and questions professionally
Assist with various administrative and office tasks
Learn payroll laws and remain current with regulatory changes

What We're Looking For:

Extremely detail-oriented with excellent organizational skills
Honest, dependable, and trustworthy
Strong problem solving and analytical abilities
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
Comfortable learning new software and technology
Proficient with Microsoft Outlook, Excel, and Adobe
Ability to prioritize multiple deadlines and work independently
Positive attitude with a willingness to learn
Committed to growing with the company for the long term (2+ years preferred)

Preferred (Not Required):

Payroll experience
Bookkeeping or accounting experience
Customer service experience in an office environment

Work Environment:

Schedule:

Monday-Friday

Part-Time or Full-Time available

Approximately:

9:00 AM – 3:00 PM (Part-Time)
9:00 AM – 5:00 PM (Full-Time)

Hours may vary depending on workload.

Pay:

$20.00-$25.00 per hour, depending on experience.
