The Role: Director of Service

This is not a back-office role, it’s a hands-on leadership position where you’ll oversee a large team, optimize field and office operations, and partner with executive leadership to take the division to the next level.

You’ll lead a 25+ person team—including union carpenters, estimators, PMs, dispatchers, and support staff—while managing day-to-day execution and shaping long-term strategy. The right candidate will bring both operational discipline and entrepreneurial spirit to the table.

Responsibilities

Lead and manage the Service Division, including field crews, office staff, estimators, and dispatch.
Oversee daily job planning, scheduling, resource allocation, and field execution.
Ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, on budget, and to company quality standards.
Build and maintain strong client relationships to support repeat business and organic growth.
Resolve field challenges through collaboration with clients, engineers, and local officials.
Drive operational improvements, streamline workflows, and increase profitability.
Monitor performance metrics and report regularly to ownership and executive leadership.
Uphold company values—especially in areas of safety, integrity, and respect.

Qualifications

8–10+ years in commercial construction, with at least 3–5 years in a leadership role.
Experience managing union labor and navigating union regulations.
Deep knowledge of construction practices, especially service work and smaller-scale project execution.
Ability to lead high-performing teams and manage multiple concurrent jobs.
Skilled in project estimating, budgeting, scheduling, and delivery.
Strong communication and relationship-building skills.
Proficiency with construction management software and Microsoft Office.

Preferred Qualifications

Hands-on construction experience (ideally journeyman-level).
Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or a related field (or equivalent experience).
Experience growing a service division or leading business development initiatives.
OSHA certification and knowledge of union labor agreements.
