POSITION SUMMARY

Park City Culinary Institute is seeking an experienced, passionate Chef & Instructor to teach culinary arts and food business to a diverse community of students aged 11 to 80+. This is more than a teaching role — you’ll be a mentor to career changers, a guide to passionate home cooks, and a strategic advisor to food entrepreneurs, while helping lead the kitchen and facility. We’re looking for a real-world culinary leader who has run or owned acclaimed concepts and wants a sustainable, mission-driven next chapter beyond the restaurant grind.

Park City Culinary Institute is a boutique culinary school that has delivered elite, real-world culinary and business education for over 13 years. Rooted in classic European techniques and grounded in genuine restaurant ownership, we teach students of all ages and backgrounds — from youth to retirees to bustling entrepreneurs. Our faculty are real-world culinary leaders who bridge the gap between classroom theory and commercial success. COMPENSATION & BENEFITS

Base Pay FT Chef: $80,733–$108,046 (above-market, based on experience)
Employment Type Full-time
Monthly Bonus Success-Sharing Bonus Program (school-wide performance)
Schedule Sustainable cap of 45–50 hrs/week (FT); daytime/evening hours

OBJECTIVES & KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Deliver high-energy, hands-on instruction in classic European cooking & french pastries
Integrate food-business and entrepreneurial concepts into daily kitchen lessons
Mentor students launching or growing their own food businesses - career changers, home cooks, and entrepreneurs
Maintain a respectful, inclusive, and highly encouraging kitchen environment for students of all ages and skill levels
Source, manage, and respect high-quality ingredients while demonstrating food-cost control and kitchen efficiency
Help lead the kitchen and facility day-to-day — people, prep, equipment, and safety
Purchasing, Storage, Hiring, Repair/Maintenance of the facility, safety & quality management
Provide real-world feedback and mentorship grounded in genuine commercial experience

COMPETENCIES

Strong leadership and people-management ability (weighted above technical pastry skill)
Excellent communication with an open-minded, patient, and egalitarian teaching approach
Ability to inspire a wide demographic, from youth to retirees to entrepreneurs
High integrity, reliability, and professionalism
Deep mastery of European culinary techniques and a passion for high-quality ingredients
Comfort teaching both savory techniques and basic French pastries (croissants, éclairs, macarons)

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

5+ years as an Executive Chef, Head Chef, or Restaurant Owner/Operator (award-winning or acclaimed experience highly preferred)
Real-world restaurant leadership and operational experience
Demonstrated ability to teach, mentor, or lead teams
Culinary training or credentials a plus; French pastry capability preferred
Must pass a thorough background check (required for all school staff)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

Must be able to stand for up to 5 hours and move about the kitchen to access storage, prep stations, and equipment
Bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, and reach overhead
Lift and move kitchen inventory, equipment, and supplies weighing up to 25 pounds

LOCATION & WORK ARRANGEMENT

This is an onsite position based at Park City Culinary Institute’s Salt Lake City, UT campus.
