Job Summary:
The Incumbent has overall Administrative and Management authority, defined within the Tribal policies, for the planning, budgeting, coordination, implementation, and evaluation of programs and projects within the Department of Health and Social Services. Provide staff support top the Tribal Health Committee and the Tribal Council, including information analysis and recommendations on matters effecting Health and Social Services Programs on the reservation.
Duties and Functions:
- Maintains continuous contracts with the Tribal Council, Tribal Health committee, Indian Health Service, Bureau of Indian Affairs, public and private agencies to assure maximum coordination of services.
- Provides leadership in the planning, development and implementation of a comprehensive health and social services delivery system.
- Analyzes current and prose legislation and regulations, and reports trends to the Tribal Council and Health Committee.
- Performs probationary and annual personnel evaluation for department supervisor.
- Provides for or arranges technical assistance to staff regarding assignments, separations and other personnel actions relating to Department staff.
- Conducts staff meeting at regular intervals.
- Attends Tribal Council and Health Committee meeting to report on the activities and progress of the department.
- Submits monthly progress reports to the Tribal Council and Health Committee.
- Assists Tribal Chairman in contract or grant negotiations.
- Assures that all programs under the Department are fiscally accountable.
- Other duties may be assigned at the discretion of the Director or designee to fulfill the Department's needs, objectives and/or goals.
- Follow established Tribal Policies and those outlines in the Colorado River Indian Tribes Employee Handbook.
Education & Experience Requirements:
- Master's degree in Health or related Human Services.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in administering General Assistance and Child Welfare, and other Social Services Programs.
- Three (3) years’ experience in contracts and grants administration and negotiations.
- Experience with working with Tribes or Tribal organizations.
- High School Diploma G.E.D
- Must possess a current valid driver's license throughout employment.
Physical Requirements:
- Be able to stand at least eight (8) hours.
- Must successfully complete a drug screening test prior to appointment.
- Physically able to perform duties assigned.
- Occasionally work extended shifts as assigned, some weekends and holidays.
